Saturday, October 4, 2008 Good Sam fundraiserThe proceeds of a progressive dinner will go toward renovation of the facility's kitchen On Saturday, Oct. 11, the Good Samaritan Society will have a Progressive Dinner to raise funds for renovation of the Good Samaritan Village kitchen. Participants will meet up at Rancher's Steakhouse at 5:45 p.m. for group transportation. Next, it's on to Don Juan's Cocina for appetizers. After that, the party will proceed to El Camino Restaurant for salad at 7 p.m., and to K-Bob's for the entrée at 8 p.m. Finally it's back to Ranchers Steakhouse for dessert, an auction and a program . "It's going to be an enjoyable evening of great food and good fun," said Good Sam Administrator Craig Thomes. Tickets are $50 per person and are available at the Good Samaritan Society, 1203 Highway 60 West; Comcast Cable, 223 Fisher Ave; and at the Socorro Chamber of Commerce, 101 Plaza. The Good Samaritan Village is a 66-bed residential care facility that provides skilled nursing, and a full range of medical and social services for the elderly in a caring environment. More than 200 meals are created in the kitchen every day. The kitchen plumbing hasn't been renovated since the facility was built in 1980, and if the flooring is not replaced, it could become a health and safety concern. "It's a large project that will require a lot of coordination and financial support," said Thomes. "The Socorro community has been a huge supporter of Good Sam's over the years."
