Wednesday, October 15, 2008 Who's 'whooo' at the Sevilleta National Wildlife RefugeSome had feathers. Some had scales. One even had quills. But they all came for the same reason to provide visitors with an up close and personal glimpse into the extraordinary wildlife that helps comprise the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge. From the majestic barn owl to red-tailed hawks and from the corn snake to the hedgehog, the animals took center stage as the refuge granted unprecedented access during its annual open house celebration Oct. 10-12. Education was the order of the day, but that didn't preclude those who attended from rolling up their sleeves and participating in a host of activities, among other things. The open house continued Sunday as visitors were taken to several of the refuge's most prized locations.
