When it comes to breakfast and burritos in Socorro, El Defensor Chieftain readers picked generationally-owned Sofia’s Kitchen and Burrito Tyme as their favorite spot for a morning meal. No surprise, Sofia’s was also picked by Chieftain readers as the best burrito in town.

Samantha Childs and her family own and operate Sofia’s, which Child’s great-grandmother started. Their success is fueled by excellent customer service and an award-winning menu that will please breakfast and lunch-goers.

Some of Sofia’s breakfast items include a two-egg, hashbrown, cheese, red or green chile (or both), and your choice of bacon, sausage, ham or chorizo for under $4 to start your day.

Sofia’s lunch combos include one-meat burritos, Frito pie or beef nachos, and if you’re ready to let out a belt notch, you should try their hamburger selection.

The delicious choices include green chile, bacon cheeseburger, patty melt, mushroom Swiss, tortilla burgers and more.

Sofia’s loves to be involved in its community and hosted the Socorro Warriors football team as part of the team’s weekly dining out.

“We are doing this because we want to support our community as much as possible,” Childs said. “We think it’s important for the boys to know that their community supports them.”

Located at 105 S. Bullock in Socorro, Sofia’s is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Mon-Friday and from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. on weekends.
