Tyler Armijo isn’t old enough to vote in New Mexico, but his grandmother Geneva Otero wanted to make sure he understood the process on Election Day 2022.

Tyler was by the far the youngest person in the Socorro County Annex Tuesday and he watched the adult voters go through the process of verification and casting their ballots — he even managed to score an “I Voted” sticker.

“I took him inside so he could see the process,” Otero explained “I wanted him to know what we are doing and what’s going on during voting day. I wanted him to see me vote.”

The adventure was a great civics lesson for Tyler and his father carried it further by explaining how voting is a right.

“I wanted him to know what we are doing. I told him that being able to vote is one of our main rights here in America,” Gilbert Armijo said.
