Andrew Jaramillo

1943-2023

We are extremely sad to announce the passing of Andrew “Andy” Albert Jaramillo.  Andy passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023, at the age of 79 in Socorro, N.M.  He was born on June 23, 1943, to Juan and Flora Jaramillo and was a lifelong resident.

Andy was a local business owner and one of the best barbers in town.  He would greet you happily by name, joke with you the minute you stepped in the door, and his ability to make you laugh was almost as good as his haircut.

Andy, better known as “Elvis,” had great talent. He was a self-taught singer, drummer and guitar player. A true entertainer, he would jump at the chance to be on stage in his Elvis jumpsuit and sunglasses. He enjoyed nothing more than performing for the people of Socorro. He was an avid basketball and tennis player and stayed active in many other sports. Andy was a good brother, uncle, and friend, but most of all he was our dad and grandpa, and we will all miss him!

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Flora Jaramillo; brothers, Tony Jaramillo, Sr. and Frank Jaramillo; sisters, Leah Wills, Isabel Montoya, and Lorraine Woodard. Andy is survived by his sisters Gloria Casey and Corrina Taylor and his daughters Andreia Jaramillo-Scarborough (Brian) and Jessica Williamson. He is also survived by his four grandchildren whom he loved very much, Kip Scarborough (Jackee), Kortnee Rodriguez (Frank), Drew Williamson, and Daniel Williamson, great-grandchildren Kenton and Karson Scarborough and Ezra and Elii Rodriguez.

The Rosary will be held on April 28, 2023, at the San Miguel Mission at 9:30 a.m. with the Mass starting at 10 a.m. The burial will be in Water Canyon following the service, with a reception immediately after at the home of Tara Jaramillo, 407 Park Street, Socorro, N.M.
