Koolonna Apachito (12) was named District Player of the Year and was invited to the New Mexico High School Coaches Association All-Star game. Alamo Navajo coach Danielle Gordon was selected to assist the green team.

Alamo Navajo’s Koolonna Apachito and Lady Cougars’ coach Danielle Gordon were selected to be part of the New Mexico High School Coaches Association All-Star volleyball game held on November 19 at West Mesa High School.

Gordon guided Alamo (19-7) to the final four of the state Class A volleyball tournament. Gordon served as an assistant coach for the small-school green team, and Apachito (District Player of the Year) was selected to the all-star game as an at-large player.

Alamo Navajo

Unsurprisingly, senior outside hitter Koolonna Apachito was named the 1A District 3 Player of the Year after helping lead Alamo Navajo to its best record in recent memory and a berth in the state tournament.

In addition to the two superlative awards, Alamo’s Hailey Apachito, Sapphira Sandoval, and Tiana Apachito were first-team all-district selections, and Elliana Guerro was named to the second team

Magdalena

Magdalena was well represented with three all-district selections, including first-teamers Irene Martinez and Jorianne Mirabal. Elia Cleveland was named an honorable mention.

Socorro

Socorro junior outside hitter Tamra Fowler was the Lady Warriors’ all-district selection for 3A District 3
