What is the most important trait of a soccer player?

I think it is about physical strength on the field as well as mental strength off the field. That second part is within you. But being a good teammate is always crucial.

What is your favorite position to play?

Definitely forward. I like to be creative, especially on the outside where I can get my teammates involved in order to score. From crossing the ball in for the girls to taking opponents 1 v 1, it’s a great rush every game.

As an offense player, how often are you expected to play defense?

Probably about 30 times a game. When you play like we play, our coaches expect us to go back and forth every game.

What is your favorite professional sports team?

I would have to go with Manchester United. They are very team-oriented and I love the style they play when I watch them.

Who is your favorite professional player?

Mallory Pugh. She plays for the U.S.A. Women’s National Team. I just love the way she plays hard on the field as well as represents our sport.

Outside of your sport, who is your favorite athlete?

Serena Williams. The way that she plays with class. Definitely girl power all day that everyone can respect.

What is your favorite sports moment playing for Socorro?

Last year during “COVID season”, I scored the game-winning goal against Sandia Prep and it was the first time we had beaten them in years. It was a golden goal in overtime. Coach (Olguin) set me up as a forward and I touched around two defenders and then it was just me and the goalie and I slotted it through. Just the best feeling for our team.

Besides your school, what team that you play regularly has the coolest uniforms?

I like Sandia Prep’s black uniforms. I wish we had a black uniform, like a black with a blue look. The contrast would be really cool.

Do you have any pregame superstitions or rituals?

Every single game I put my right sock on then my left sock on. Then my right cleat and my left cleat. My right shin-guard and my left shin-guard. I’ve been doing that ever since a game I cannot remember that I played really well in. Most of the time it works.

Other than soccer, what is your favorite Olympic Sport?

Probably basketball. It’s very similar to soccer and I wish I had played it here in my high school career. The way you move and think definitely translates between the sports.

What is your favorite type of music?

R&B. It soothes the soul. Ella May is my favorite if I had to pick. Love her sound.

If you could meet anyone famous, living or dead, who would it be?

Probably Carli Lloyd. She’s 39 years old and still playing competitively for the WNT and that is crazy for me, to be that fit and in the condition to compete at that level and still dominate. The first words out of my mouth would be “I want to be like you.”
