A big part of the Lady Warriors success in 2021 has been Lola Apodaca, an aggressive striker on the offensive end that fights for every ball.

Question: As a senior, what has been your favorite part about being a part of the Lady Warriors soccer team?

Answer: On the field I will always be number 11, which is something nobody can take away. I am so proud of every person on the team and I am going to miss every single one of these girls. This is my family. I’ve been playing with this group since my eighth-grade year and I am blessed to have all of these memories here. I’ve accomplished every goal I set out to and am very proud of myself.

Q: Outside of soccer, what is your favorite sport?

A: Probably track. It’s thrilling watching athletes fly down the hundred (meters). I’m fast myself so I love track. It gives me an adrenaline rush going up against girls from other schools. Outside of the sports I play, my favorite to watch is football. It’s a rough sport to watch but also has a beauty to it.

Q: What defines the Lady Warriors team?

A: The girls, the girls and the girls. Growing up with this group has been amazing and we wouldn’t have a team if we didn’t develop together. The journey has been amazing.

Q: What would you tell the younger players coming up in the sport?

A: Stay with it. This world shows that you can do anything once you put your mind to it. Work as hard as you can and chase your dreams is my mentality.

Q: If you could go back in time and tell your younger self how to approach the game, what would you say?

A: Be patient and realize there are so many great things coming your way in the years to come. Never give up because look at me now. I worked so hard and achieved so much with this group. Set your mind to the end goal and good things can happen.

Q: If you could have dinner with one person, living or dead, who would it be?

A: Kobe Bryant. Oh my gosh, he had such a good work ethic. He was working hard ever since he was small. I would love to figure out how he became him and pulled through. I’m sure he’s failed in life, so have I. It feels like I would relate to him and I would love to have a conversation with the legend.
