Question: What is the most important trait for a volleyball player to possess?

Answer: Good attitude and keeping everybody motivated throughout the game.

Q: What is your favorite position to play?

A: Right side is my main spot, but I’ve been moved up to setter at times due to the loss of seniors. I try to stay balanced both offensively and defensively in order to help our team.

Q: What is your favorite professional sports team?

A: I would have to say the Los Angeles Lakers. It has always been a family team and I grew up watching Kobe (Bryant) and Paul Gasol so they are definitely my favorites.

Q: Who is your favorite athlete?

A: Again, it would have to be Kobe. His impact on the world still to this day is very inspiring. If I could meet one celebrity in history it would be him.

Q: Is there a moment in your time playing here in Socorro that stands out?

A: Going to the state championship last season is obviously big for me. Also beating our rivals like Hatch for example always feels good as a team. I like beating rivals, especially if they beat us the last time we played.

Q: What team other than yours has the best uniforms?

A: I would have to say Robertson (Cardinals). I like the black jersey’s the most. It looks very official and you know, black goes with everything.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals before hitting the court?

A: Yes. Before we come out we gather around going over the game plan before one of our teammates leads a prayer. I lead the “Our Father” before any game.

Q: If you were at a family barbecue, what is your favorite food to eat?

A: Definitely the pasta salad. Pasta is good for you and it keeps you well balanced. Definitely my go-to with everything is pasta.

Q: What is your favorite place to go outside of Socorro?

A: My family and I usually go to Texas during the summer. Weatherford, which is about an hour away from Fort Worth. I have an uncle there and that trip is always fun.

Q: What is your favorite movie?

A: Probably “Love & Basketball”. One of those movies that my brother grew up with and me being the younger sibling adapted to that.

Q: What is something about yourself that would surprise people?

A: Nothing that I can think of. I try to be an open book when it comes to my personality. What you see is what you get.
