The city council on Monday approved the loan resolution and a bid for the Water Reclamation Facility improvements. AUI Inc.’s bid was approved.

According to the city council, AUI has also done previous work for the city.

The loan resolution is a loan for $540,000. It has already been approved by the USDA as the City of Socorro was allowed to pursue additional funding as long as it was within 20 percent of USDA funding.

The original loan was for over $2 million. The $540,000 loan was needed to complete the project and for contingencies.

According to bid documents, the engineer’s cost opinion totaled $2,406,375.00. AUI Inc. put their bid in at $2,246,125.02 and RMCI Inc.’s bid was $2,900,965.31.

The total costs were broken down into three schedules.

Base Bid Schedule 1: Blower, Air Header, SBR Improvement and DO Controls:

  • Engineer’s cost: $1,523,390.63
  • AUI: $1,622,589.98
  • RMCI: $1,943,320.31

Additive Bid Schedule 1: Miscellaneous Digester Basin Repairs:

  • Engineer’s cost: $502,406.25
  • AUI: $365,439.09
  • RMCI: $582,187.50

Additive Bid Schedule II: Miscellaneous SBR and Thickener Basin Repairs:

  • Engineer’s cost: $380,578.13
  • AUI: $258,095.94
  • RMCI: $375,187.50

The City of Socorro will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday, Jan. 14 at noon to award the bid.
