Last Tuesday, August 24, was the deadline for candidates filing for local elective positions. On the ballot include candidates for Socorro and Magdalena school boards, Socorro City Counselors and Magdalena Trustees, and others.

Magdalena’s incumbent mayor is unopposed. The three incumbent trustees are also running unopposed. Two school board members are running unopposed.

In Socorro, three candidates are hoping to succeed retiring Socorro Municipal Judge Frances Cases. The Socorro City Council has four positions open, two of which are unopposed. Socorro Consolidated School District’s Board of Education has three seats up for grabs.

Voting Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
