New Mexico State Police responded to a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 25 on Sunday at 12:14 p.m. near mile post 181. The initial investigation shows a 1996 Ford Explorer SUV, driven by a 48-year old male of Socorro was traveling south on Interstate 25. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and rolled. The male driver sustained unknown injuries and he was transported to an area hospital.

There were two passengers in the Ford at the time of the crash, Bonnie Ganadonegro, 34, of Socorro and a 10-year-old child. Both Ganadonegro and the 10-year-old child were ejected from the vehicle. Ganadonegro sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene and the 10-year-old child was transported to a hospital in Albuquerque by air. The child’s condition is unknown at press time.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. Seatbelts were only properly utilized by the driver. For the privacy of the family, the identity of the child will not be released.

This crash remains under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
