A Los Lunas man suffered fatal injuries Sunday evening after his vehicle crashed just north of Lemtar on Interstate 25.

According to a press release, on July 17 at approximately 7:46 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated the single vehicle fatal rollover crash on Interstate 25, near milepost 160, north of Lemitar.

NMSP said the initial investigation indicates a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by Jesus A. Prospero-Vazquez (33) of Los Lunas, was traveling north on Interstate 25. For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet left the roadway and entered the dirt median. The vehicle then traveled back across both lanes of Interstate 25 northbound and rolled. Prospero-Vazquez was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. 

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and seatbelts appear to have not been used. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
