Florencio Saavedra

Florencio G. Saavedra, 83, of Socorro, New Mexico passed away on April 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He retired from Socorro Electric Cooperative after 44 years of service and honorably served in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam War Era.

He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita of 60 years; daughter, Patricia Torma and husband, Steve and grandchildren, Nick & Jackie Torma; son, Victor Saavedra and grandson Kaleb Clark; brother, Ignacio Saavedra and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ezequiel Saavedra and mother Eloisa Saavedra; brothers, Victor “Ramon” Saavedra and his identical twin brother, Francisco Saavedra; loving aunts, Albinita and Jennie Baca, Flora Montoya; grandparents, Serito and Emena Baca, Luis and Gabrielita Saavedra; uncles, Adrian, Ignacio and Candido Baca.
Florencio was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, loved his family and friends and was very active with San Miguel Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Services are scheduled for April 20,2023 at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro with Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m. Florencio will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico on April 25, 2023 at 1p.m.
