The Lady Warriors made Socorro fans proud with a 3-1 win at home against the Rehoboth Christian Lynx.

It was a sunny day at the soccer complex when the game kicked off at noon. The game was fairly evenly matched with both teams passing effectively in the midfield. Rehoboth freshman Asher Arviso and Socorro senior Elise Madril wrestled for the ball on several occasions. The more slender Kilee Mounyo was not afraid to battle against some of the larger Lynx defenders. She set the tone physically in the match.

The Lady Warriors scored all three goals in the first half. Once the first goal went through things started to turn into a long first half for Rehoboth’s senior goal keeper Kora Zylstra as the Lady Warriors kept the pressure on with decisive offensive drives through the opposing defense.
The Lady Lynx were able to avoid being shut out in the game with a quick strike from senior midfielder Naomi Phillips to keep the game within striking distance.

At the half, head coach Michael Olguin met with the team to suggest adjustments to be made for the second half while the team re-hydrated. He also praised the team for the high energy effort they had put out there so far.

Once coming out of the huddle both teams were back at one another. Seniors Alex Olguin and Bryanda Leon were doing a great job holding off the desperate Lady Lynx as the game came to a close. With the win the Lady Warriors improve to a near perfect 8-1 with their only loss coming against Clovis on October 28 2-1 in overtime. Rehoboth Christian falls to 5-2. The Lady Warriors have a home game on 9/17 against the Belen Lady Eagles followed by another home game 9/23 against the Godard Lady Rockets.
