The following items were taken from reports at the Socorro Police Department

Dec. 14

An officer was dispatched to a local school for a child abuse report. The officer met with the principal who said a child had reported being abused. The officer waited for the child’s mother to arrive. She allowed the child to speak with the officer. The child told the officer her father found a cell phone she had, and he said if she did not return the cellphone, he would hit her. The officer did not see any signs of battery on the child. The child was allowed to leave with her mother. The officer spoke with the father, who said he does not believe in spanking his children. The officer called in a case report to CYFD.

An officer was called at 11:11 a.m. to the 200 block of Abeyta for a report about a trespasser. The officer met with the victim who stated two males entered the property and cut down some bamboo. The officer located one male and informed him not to return to the property.

An officer was called to a crash scene in the 1000 block NE Frontage Road with possible injuries. The officer met with one of the drivers, who stated they were struck from behind and the other vehicle left the area. The other vehicle was located, and the driver admitted he was involved in a crash. He said he checked on the occupants of the other vehicle, and when they began to get angry, he left the area. The officer could smell alcohol on the driver and standard field sobriety tests showed clues of intoxication. The male was arrested and transported to SCDC where he was booked on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, and aggravated driving while under the influence (refusal to submit blood or breath).

An officer was called at 4:09 p.m. to Walmart and met with a woman who said she went to pick up her Walmart order but found out the order was given to another female. She was compensated for the amount of the order. The officer reviewed the video but was unable to identify the suspect.

An officer was called at 4:54 p.m. to the 600 block of Newberry for damage to property. The victim stated she was in her residence when she heard a window breaking. She said she was unsure of what or whom could have broken the window. The victim placed the value of the window at $400-$500.

An officer was called at 8:21 p.m. to Circle K and while there, noticed a female known to have an active warrant for her arrest. She was asked about her purse, and she stated it was staying in the vehicle. The officer informed her the purse would be searched incident to her arrest. She grabbed the purse and retrieved something from inside and shoved it into her pants. She was placed under arrest. The purse was searched, and narcotics were found. She was transported to SCDC to be searched by a female, but the corrections officer did not locate anything on her. She was booked on the warrant and possession of a controlled substance.

Dec. 15

An officer was called at 3:09 a.m. to Walmart where an employee wanted to make a report about stolen property. He said he had his personal laptop with him at work and had put it on the display case when the suspect walked up and grabbed it and left the building.

Dec. 16

An officer was called at 1:36 a.m. to a home on South Drive in reference to a female being struck and kicked out of a residence. The officer met with the female, who stated she wanted to retrieve her property from inside the residence, and the male there struck her in the face. The officer was unable to see any signs of battery. After assisting her with retrieving her property, the officer spoke with the male involved, who stated the female damaged his screen door. The officer did see damage to the screen door.

An officer was called at 5:06 p.m. to the Socorro Public Library where the reporting person said there were multiple juveniles in the building. She said they climbed out of a window and got onto the roof. The reporting person said when she confronted the juveniles, one of them jumped off of the roof and injured himself. The officer met with the juveniles and called for an ambulance. The juveniles were removed from the property. The officer informed them they would not be trespassed, and they could return another day. One juvenile was transported to Socorro General Hospital due to his injury from jumping off the roof.

An officer was dispatched at noon to an apartment complex on Spring Street to remove a trespasser. The officer met with the reporting person and then informed a female she was trespassed. She left the area.

Dec. 17

An officer was dispatched at 1:19 a.m. to Otero and Second streets where a vehicle crashed into the ditch. The officer did not find anyone in the vehicle, but a short time later met with a male walking. He told the officer he was the driver of the vehicle in the ditch. The driver showed signs of intoxication and was given standard field sobriety tests. After probable cause was determined, he was arrested and the vehicle was towed. After medical clearance was granted, he was incarcerated for aggravated driving while under the influence – BAC .16 or higher.

Dec. 18

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Faulkner Road on a battery report. The officer took statements from a female who said she was battered by her sister. The suspect was unable to be located. Charges of battery were filed.

An officer was dispatched to a school to take a report from a teacher. The teacher told the officer that a parent was spanking her child while in the classroom. The officer was advised of the child having bad behavior, and the mother spanked the child for kicking the teacher. The mother left with the child.

Dec. 19

An officer was called at 5:54 p.m. to Puerto Seguro in reference to a battery. The reporting person told the officer that the suspect came into the building and battered two individuals and left prior to the officer’s arrival. The officer met with the first victim, who stated the suspect punched her in the face, knocked her to the ground, and punched her again in the face. The officer did not notice any signs of battery to the female. The officer met with the second victim, who said the suspect punched him in the face, knocked him to the ground, and kicked him. The officer did notice signs of battery on him. The male said he did not want to pursue charges against the suspect.

An officer received a CPS intake on several juveniles. The officer arrived at a residence on Baca Street and knocked at the door. The officer was allowed in the residence and noticed the home was unheated and there was no source of heat. The officer also noticed the house to have mold and dog feces. There was no food in the home, and the living environment was not safe for the children. The children were taken to Socorro Police Department and given dinner and clothing. Officers turned custody of the children over to CYFD.

An officer was dispatched at 12:59 a.m. to Circle K for someone stealing alcohol. The officer looked at the security camera video and observed the vehicle the suspect got into. A short time later the officer spotted the vehicle and tried to pull it over, but the driver did not stop for several minutes. When the vehicle stopped, the officer detained all occupants. Three occupants were juveniles and had signs of consuming alcohol. The officer also noticed the male driver to have signs of impairment. He was given standard field sobriety tests. After probable cause was determined, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. A tow inventory was performed on the vehicle, which turned up three guns and a large amount of marijuana in a backpack. The officer took all the firearms and marijuana to the Socorro Police Department. The driver was charged with resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, possession of a controlled substance, contributing to delinquency of a minor, driving while under the influence, stop/yield sign violations, no driver’s license, and shoplifting. The vehicle was towed.

An officer pulled over a vehicle at 9:31 a.m. for a traffic infraction on El Camino Real. The driver was run through NCIC and came back with a valid warrant for her arrest. She was arrested, and her family was given permission to take the vehicle.

An officer was alerted at 4:54 p.m. to a female in the area of Sixth Street with a possible warrant. The officer located the female in the area and confirmed the warrant. She was arrested and delivered to SCDC with no further incident.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Fatima Road for a stolen motor vehicle. The officer met with a male who said after he lent his friend his vehicle, a female took it without his consent. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as a missing motor vehicle. The officer checked back with the male later and was advised of his vehicle being returned to him.

An officer was dispatched at 3:53 p.m. to a residence on Lopezville Road for an unresponsive male. The officer arrived and was taken to a male laying on the bathroom floor unresponsive. The officer was advised that the male had already been given Narcan. EMTs arrived a short time later and confirmed no signs of life. OMI was called. After they completed their investigation, Daniel’s Funeral Home took possession of the body.

An officer conducted a welfare check at 3:56 p.m. on a male at a residence with no utilities in the 500 block of Park Street. The male advised the officer that he was filling out paperwork to get assistance and that he could stay at a family member’s residence if he needed to. The officer also saw that he had an eye infection. The male said he made an appointment at the doctor’s office to get it checked. The officer advised him that Adult Protection Services will be contacted.

Dec. 20

An officer was called to a residence on Eaton Avenue in reference to harassment. The officer met with the victim who stated her ex-boyfriend has been sending her harassing text messages.

An officer contacted a male known to have an active warrant for his arrest. The warrant was confirmed and he was transported to SCDC where he was booked on the warrant.

An officer was called at 9:11 p.m. to the 300 block of Second Street in reference to damage to property. The victim told the officer she arrived at the residence to retrieve her dog when a male struck her windshield with a shovel and left the area. The officer located the suspect and placed him under arrest. The suspect was transported to SCDC for criminal damage to property, with an additional charge of child abuse.

An officer was called at 8:17 p.m. to Casey’s RV Park in reference to an assault. The officer met with the victim who stated the suspect arrived at his residence and struck him and then pulled a knife on him. The suspect was charged with battery and aggravated assault.
