Law and Order: Socorro Police blotter

The following items were taken from reports at the Socorro Police Department

Mar. 21

An officer was dispatched at 11:03 a.m. to Monte Vista Court for a burglary. The homeowner stated he left town yesterday at 6 a.m. When he returned home this morning at 5:30 a.m., he found a window of the residence broken and the door frame broken. The victim provided a list of items damaged and stolen. The things damaged included a plant pot, a chair, a table, a cabinet door, a door frame, a window and a pole to the gate. The damge totaled $1,035. The stolen items were a $1,020 HP laptop, a wallet with $600 in cash, a driver’s license, and credit cards. Officers drove around the area but were unsuccessful in locating any items.

An officer was dispatched at 6:08 p.m. to Dollar Tree due to a disturbance caused by someone running around the parking lot in his underwear. The officer searched the area and located a male in the parking lot behind the Verizon store with his shirt off and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. He had his underwear around his thighs and was exposing himself in the parking lot. He was arrested and taken to the Police Department for processing, then to Socorro County Detention Center for incarceration.

An officer was dispatched at 1:08 a.m. to Abeyta Avenue on the report of shots fired. Responding officers were advised a vehicle had fled the area. The officer located the car a short time later, traveling at a high rate of speed. It ran a stop sign and was pulled over. When the vehicle stopped, a female exited the driver’s seat, attempting to confront officers. The female was placed into handcuffs and secured in a unit. The officer located a bottle of alcohol in the vehicle. The female admitted to drinking but declined to perform standard field sobriety tests. She was taken to SCDC, where she struck the officer as he read her implied consent. Charges included battery on a peace officer, aggravated driving while under the influence, aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, and an open container.

Mar. 22

An officer was called at 8:25 p.m. to Smith Road in reference to a CPS report. The report stated that a juvenile disclosed an incident involving her father and her mother. In the incident, the child mentions her father turning into a demon and threatening to harm himself and the mother. The officer arrived and met with the family. The officer asked the juvenile about the situation while her mother was present. The juvenile said her father was just playing with her. The officer also spoke with the mother and father, who stated the father was just playing with the child.

An officer was called at 10:43 p.m. to Econo Lodge in reference to damage done to the business. The reporting person stated the suspect damaged a window of the business and gave the officer the suspect’s room number. The officer attempted to make contact with the suspect but was unable to. The next day the suspect contacted the officer, stating that he did not remember anything about damaging the window. The reporting person said damage to the window would cost $4,000 but did not want to press charges at this time.

An officer was called at 3:01 p.m. to a residence in the 1600 block of El Camino Real in reference to a theft. The reporting person stated his shed was broken into, and he has pictures of the suspect. The officer viewed the photos and was able to identify the suspect. The reporting person said the items taken were valued at approximately $1,200, and there was $600 in damage to the shed door.

Mar. 23

An officer was called at 8:39 p.m. to Quigg Street in reference to a battery. The officer met with the victim, who stated he was hit in the face with a rock. He noted the suspect said something about a meth fight. The officer observed injuries to the victim, who was transported to Socorro General Hospital to be treated. The suspect was charged with aggravated battery.

An officer was called at 9:38 a.m. to Socorro High School regarding a physical altercation between two students earlier in the day. The reporting person stated one of the student’s older siblings arrived and pushed past the reporting person to strike one of the students. The reporting person said that as an older sibling was leaving the school he damaged the student’s vehicle. The reporting person stated she wanted to press charges against one of the suspects. Charges of battery, battery on school personnel, and criminal damage to property were filed against the student.

An officer was called at 5 p.m. to the 300 block of Fifth Street scene in reference to fraud. The reporting person said somebody had been applying for unemployment in her name. She also stated she received a debit card in her name that she did not apply for. The reporting person requested a report on the incident.

An officer was waved down at 3:19 p.m. by a male on Chaparral Drive. He told the officer he was with an unconscious male who had been given two units of Narcan and was not reacting to the dose. Another three doses were given, and he was moved to a level area where CPR was unsuccessful by EMS personnel. OMI was called, and he was pronounced deceased. Next of kin was notified of where the deceased male and his belongings were being taken.

Mar. 24

An officer received a CPS intake at 1:17 p.m. for excessive discipline, and met with the reporting party and the juvenile who was possibly battered. The officer met with CYFD and Casa Del Luz personnel and went to speak with the parents at the juvenile’s home. The father acknowledged he did hit his child with a belt for cursing. The officer worked out a plan with the parents, and they will be seeking the services of Casa Del Luz.

An officer took a report at 9:06 a.m. from a male who said his laptop was stolen from his vehicle parked in the 500 block of Manzanares. He noticed it missing when he got into his vehicle this morning.

An officer was called at 5:38 a.m. to the 600 block of Nicholas Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim stated he woke up to go to work and noticed his vehicle was not outside. He filled out a theft declaration, and the vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen.

An officer was dispatched at 5 p.m. to a residence on Dolores Road for a child custody transfer. The officer met with the father, who said he did not allow his daughter to go with a person who he did not know. The daughter will stay with the father until the mother picks up the daughter.

Mar. 25

An officer was dispatched at 8:05 a.m. to Socorro High School for vandalism. The officer met with a male who showed the officer his son’s vehicle, which was covered in mustard and eggs. The officer advised the male he would look at the video and to try to recognize who vandalized the car.

Mar. 26

An officer was dispatched at 6:25 p.m. to a residence on Stallion Circle for the theft of a camera. The victim said someone had taken the camera from his vehicle, and he was unsure if the door was left open. There were no security cameras in the area.

Mar. 27

An officer was called to West Place to take a report from a male who was missing money from his bank account. He stated the money was taken out of his Washington Federal account without his knowledge or consent. He said that during the incident, he was in possession of his bank card the entire time. The bank statements were requested and showed the total dollar amount that was taken was $307. A report was written to further the investigation and get video footage from Washington Federal Bank.

An officer met with a male on Arroyo Drive at 3:14 p.m. who wanted to make an informational report about a female jumping into his work truck and saying she had been beaten up and to start driving. He stated he told her he could not do so. He said he needed a police report because his job has zero tolerance for passengers being in the vehicle.

An officer was dispatched at 4:31 p.m. to San Miguel Church Rectory for a male on the property. As the officer was approaching the male, he ran and climbed up to the top of the roof. Officers attempted to talk him down from the roof, but the male was saying things that were not making sense and behaving in an aggressive manner. The male then began damaging an HVAC pipe on the roof. The officers provided a ladder to assist him off the roof, but instead of using the ladder to come down, the male used it to get on top of the roof of the garage. After an officer climbed up to the roof, the male attempted to jump off, but the officer was able to get a hold of him to ensure he would not run. When officers got in position to take the suspect into custody, the officer let go of his grip on him. He was placed under arrest and was taken to Socorro General Hospital for medical clearance and later incarcerated at the SCDC. The object he damaged while he was on the roof was an HVAC pipe for the building. The estimated value to replace the pipe given by the church was $1,000.

An officer was called at 11:39 a.m. to the Econo Lodge for found property. The reporting party said a wallet was found in a room by the cleaning staff, and he wanted to turn it over to the police. The officer took the wallet for safekeeping and told them to call officers or have the owner of the wallet come to the police station to pick up his property if he came back looking for it.

An officer was called at 3:46 p.m. to Tractor Supply to take a report about a female that keeps driving around the parking lot. The reporting person said that the night before, someone threw eggs on his vehicle and thought it may have been her because they have had issues in the past. The officer told him he would patrol the area, and if he came across the vehicle, he would make contact with the driver. The officer could not locate the car and went back on patrol. There was no video of the incident of his car getting egged at this time.
