The following items were taken from reports at the Socorro Police department

Aug. 23

An officer on patrol at 7:07 a.m. noticed a male in the median on California Street trying to reposition a trailer from not hitting a tree. The male was pulling branches off the tree without permission. He was given a non-traffic citation. The officer was provided with a damage report from the city. The damage was listed at $500.

A caller reported that she had enrolled her child in Head Start and her ex-husband was upset about it. She said the suspect was taking pictures of her and was parked in front of her vehicle. The officer met with the ex-husband, who said he was trying to find out what day his child was enrolled at the school. He also said he spoke with his attorney and was asked to get photos of his child at school. The officer spoke with the caller, who asked the officer to escort her to District Court, due to being afraid of the male. The female was escorted to the court and asked for a deputy.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Cuba Road for a stolen bike. The victim said the bike was valued at $3,000 and was taken from the back of the residence. The officer was provided with the name of a male suspect. The suspect has not yet been located at time of report.

A man reported at 10:04 a.m. that unknown suspects were using his personal information to obtain credit and make purchases. The victim showed the officer a letter showing that someone was using his information to obtain credit. He showed the officer a letter with a female’s name where an agreement was made for her to purchase a car. The victim provided a letter from EPPI and attached was a Visa credit card with the name of a female. The officer contacted the female who purchased the car through CarMax. The female said she did purchase the car and said her mail sometimes goes to the victim’s home. The officer was not able to identify a second female suspect.

An officer stopped a male at Abeyta and Sixth at 8:01 p.m. who had a valid warrant. The male had his hands in his pocket and was asked to remove his hands. The male had his fist clenched and the officer told him to give him what was in his hand. He turned over a plastic bag with narcotics. The suspect was incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center.

A victim reported at 6 p.m. that a female took her backpack and threw the items in the yard of a residence in the 600 block of Park Street. The victim said she did not want any charges filed and only wanted the backpack back. The officer went to the residence and spoke with the homeowner. The homeowner retrieved the backpack and turned it over to police. The backpack was stored at the police department until the victim could pick up the items.

A victim in the 700 block of Bagley reported at 9:54 a.m. that someone spray-painted graffiti on the victim’s building. The officer checked the building and saw the graffiti on the garage doors of the building. At this time there are no suspects.

A woman in the 600 block of Sean reported at 11:35 a.m. a male was harassing her by throwing dog feces into her yard. The victim said she does not own a dog and had no reason for the feces to be in her yard. She said that two days prior an unknown suspect drove through her yard damaging the rocks and landscaping. The officer was shown photos of the damage. The officer went to the home and checked the yard. The yard had already been cleaned. At this time the suspect has not been identified.

A caller reported at 9:15 a.m. that unknown suspects took batteries out of heavy equipment that was parked near Sedillo Park. The equipment was being used on road construction on Bullock Ave. The caller provided the officer with the values for each battery.  The total amount was $1,430. There are no cameras in the area that would show the theft. No witnesses were located.

Aug. 25

An officer was called at 10:06 p.m. to a fight at Mcdonald’s. The officer met with Female 1, who said Female 3 came back from break with a white powder on her nose. Female 1 questioned Female 3 on the powder and the two began to argue. Female 1 said Female 3 slapped her and they agreed to clock out and go fight off duty. The officer met with Female 2, a member of Female 1’s family, who said she engaged in the fight because Female 3 and Female 4 were fighting against Female 1. The parties were separated and declined to press charges against the others. The officers were later called back for a second fight in the parking lot. On arrival the officers observed several people leaving.

A victim in the 1600 block of El Camino Real reported at 10:06 a.m. being notified of a vehicle pursuit involving his vehicle. He contacted his son who drives the car. The son said he was home and was not driving. The victim said the car was not where his son left it and that it was stolen. He provided the information on the vehicle and completed a theft declaration. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen.

An officer was called to the Probation and Parole Office to arrest a suspect who violated their conditions of release. The officer was provided with an arrest order and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was taken to the police department for processing and later booked into the SCDC.

An officer was contacted at 11:45 a.m. by a CYFD Staff member and advised of an incident with the victim waking up at night after a nightmare. The victim said he was dreaming his father had suffocated him. He later disclosed to the family the suspect has struck him and caused bruising. The officer was provided with a CPS report on the incident. The officer contacted a child advocacy group where an interview is scheduled to occur. During the interview, the victim disclosed that the suspect was upset with a family member and when the victim tried to talk to the suspect and calm him down the suspect struck and choked the victim. The victim said he was in fear of the suspect and did not feel safe. The case was forwarded to the District Attorney.

An officer attempted to contact the suspect on West Place Park at 2:36 p.m. for having a valid warrant. As the officers were attempting to make contact, the suspect fled in a vehicle and failed to stop at traffic signs. The officer drove down a parallel street and then onto Reservoir Street. The officers were able to locate the suspect in a desert area. She had abandoned her vehicle and fled on foot. Officers saw the suspect running and found her hiding under a bush. The suspect was arrested and turned over to the Socorro County Sheriff’s officers.

Officers were called at 8:52 a.m. to North Main Street for a male and female acting suspicious, and that the female was blocking the driveway. The officer arrived and met with the male who said the female was blocking his driveway and was last seen at the north end of Main Street. The officer located the female suspect, who was seated on the ground and with a plastic baggie. She admitted that she was standing in the driveway, but started moving. The officer asked for consent to check a plastic baggie. The suspect fumbled through the baggie and turned over a small piece of plastic with a crystal substance. The suspect was arrested and taken to the police department with the substance. The substance tested positive for a narcotic. The suspect was processed and booked into the SCDC. The substance was logged as evidence.

Officers were called at 11:54 a.m. to Tractor Supply for a female shoplifter. The suspect was located and found in possession of the stolen merchandise. She was arrested and taken to the police department. The officers met with the store staff and were advised the items were recovered. The items were valued at $67.97 and were returned to the store. The suspect was processed and booked into SCDC.

A victim reported at 1:57 p.m. losing her wallet which contained her NM driver’s license, medical card, and NM Tech Student ID, along with $30. She said she has checked several places she had been but the wallet was not turned in.

Aug. 27

An officer was dispatched at 10:57 p.m. to speak with a female about a stolen motor vehicle. The female said she had been out of town and left her vehicle parked at a residence in the 600 block of Central. When she returned her vehicle was missing. The female accused her ex-boyfriend of taking her vehicle. The officer was shown a title where the female signed the title over to her boyfriend, but she stated she never signed the title over. The officer told her he was going to forward the report to the District Attorney’s office.

A victim in the 500 block of Bagley reported the suspect took four checks from the victim and cashed the checks at Washington Federal Bank. The victim said the suspect did not have permission to take or use the checks. The officer issued a subpoena for records from the bank.

An officer was called to Wal-Mart in reference to a broken window. The reporting person showed the officer a broken window on the southwest side of the building. Officer noted a softball-sized hole in the window. A rock was found inside the building. No entry was made into the building. The suspect is not known at this time.

An officer was dispatched to Walmart for a vehicle parked on a curb. The officer arrived and found it parked over the curb in the rocks. The suspect was sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine on and the car in gear, and the officer noticed drug paraphernalia on the passenger seat. The car was put in park and the suspect was removed from the car, providing a name and DOB. The officer had the suspect complete field sobriety tests but not enough clues were noted for an arrest. The suspect could not provide an ID and said she had a Social Security card. The officer saw that she had several Social Security cards and handed over one card with her correct name. A check with NCIC showed she had several warrants for her arrest. The suspect was arrested and the car towed. A search warrant was completed on the car. No illegal items were located.

An officer was called at 11:14 a.m. to Manzanares Avenue in reference to harassment. Officer met with the victim’s husband who said his wife is being harassed by another female while driving in town. The victim’s husband said the suspect is flipping the victim off while she is driving around town and she is getting upset. He said that this is the first incident.

An officer was patrolling in the area of Highway 85 when he noticed a male near Puerto Seguro who was known to have an active arrest warrant. The officer made contact with the male and took him into custody. He was transported to SCDC and booked on his warrant.

An officer was dispatched to Wagon Wheel trailer park for a domestic. A male at the scene said he had been battered by his girlfriend when he was trying to leave the residence. The officer took possession of a firearm for safekeeping while doing his investigation. The girlfriend admitted to battering her boyfriend of two years. The male said he wanted to leave the residence and got all of his belongings and was given his firearm back and allowed to leave.

Aug. 28

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Hilltop for fraud. The officer met with a female who said someone opened a Verizon account under her deceased mother’s name. Officer got all the information and called the number with no answer.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Sean Avenue for property damage. The officer noticed the garage door had been spray painted. The reporting person estimated the damage to the door at $200.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of El Camino Real for a stolen motor vehicle. The officer met with the reporting party who said the vehicle was at another residence and when the owner went to get the vehicle back it was gone. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. There are no suspects at this time.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on West Place for a domestic. Upon arrival the officer met a female walking and pointing, stating the suspect had just run through the yard. The female said she had gone to get the suspect from a house and when she was getting him out the door he pulled a knife on her and cut her finger.  She said he had left his bike and backpack in the middle of the road when he saw the police coming, adding that the knife was inside the backpack. The officer noticed the knife in a side pocket of the bag and collected the backpack and bike for safekeeping and the knife as evidence. She was asked if she wanted to pursue charges on him and she said she did. The officer was not able to locate the suspect at the time and charges were filed. The female denied medical attention for the cut on her finger.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Sixth Street to speak with a female about fraud. The female said someone called her up and told her to send gift cards to the caller or her bank account would be locked. Officer advised her it was a scam and not to send money.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Sean Avenue for a report. The reporting party said she sold a cabinet to a female who never paid her. The officer met with the female suspect who said she would give the cabinet back to the reporting party.

A caller in the 1200 block of El Camino Real reported she was in a verbal argument with her boyfriend. She said the two have been arguing for a few weeks and she was going to move out of the home, but the suspect took her phone and left. The caller said she left the home with her child and will be moving out of the home. The officer was not able to make contact with the suspect at this time.

An officer was dispatched at 6:06 a.m. to a residence in the 1100 block of Santa Fe for damage to property. The reporting person said an unknown person took down her no trespassing sign and damaged her vehicle. Officer did see slight damage to the vehicle. No suspects at this time.

Aug. 29

An officer met with a victim in the 700 block of Neel who said the female suspect had stolen some items from him while he was in jail. He said he had told her he would not press charges on her if she gave him his items back. She refused to give the items back and denied having the items. The officer was shown messages going back and forth, but the suspect never admitted taking anything from him. Officer advised he would write a report on the incident but did not have enough to charge anyone at this time.

A victim reported at 4:20 a.m. that a male was sleeping on the property of the business in the 300 block of California Street and wanted the suspect removed. The officer met with the suspect at Socorro Tire and had him exit the property.

An officer was stopped at 6:30 p.m. by a female in the 300 block of California for a report. She told the officer her vehicle was egged and her vehicle had a scratch on the window. She said it was another female in a white car but did not know the name of the suspect.
