March 1

A victim reported at 4:15 p.m. that an unknown suspect cashed two checks at the bank, that were not signed by the victim. The officer received a USB with the video and the suspect was identified and charges were filed.

A caller from AutoZone reported at 2:33 p.m. that the suspect was making false purchase returns and keeping the money for himself. The caller said in a discussion with the suspect, he admitted to the thefts because he needed to help his parents with rent. The officer met with the suspect and advised the suspect of his rights. The suspect agreed to speak to the officer and admitted to making false returns and keeping the money. The suspect was released, and charges were filed.

A victim in the 200 block of Silva reported at 7:29 p.m. that a Sony PS4 game console was stolen from the home. The victim provided the names of two persons of interest. The officer was able to speak with one person who said she did not take the game console and left with the other person. The female said she did not see the other person take the game console either. The victim later called back and advised he noticed forced entry into the home. The officer was informed that the door to the home was damaged where entry was made. At this time there are no suspects.

A victim reported at 10:41 p.m. that an unknown female used their EBT card to withdraw $50 at Dollar Tree. The victim told the officer that the store employees said a female was in the store using the card. At this time the female suspect has not been identified.

March 2

An officer attempted to pull over a driver at 3:04 a.m. for traffic violations. The suspect refused to stop and drove several blocks to a residence in the 300 block of School of Mines Road. On contact, the officer noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which showed several clues. The suspect was arrested and agreed to a breath test, with the results being .18 and .19. The suspect was processed and booked into SCDC.

A woman on Fatima Road reported at 5 p.m. that a red SUV passed by her house and broke a window on her vehicle. She thought it would cost $300 to replace the window. No suspect at this time.

March 3

Officers were called at 12:40 p.m. to Walmart for a customer using a fake $100 bill. The customer in question said he was paid the money when he was selling firewood. The money was provided to the officers and was determined to be fake. The male said he was going to contact the person who paid him. He was advised to contact the Sheriff’s Department for assistance due to the male living in Lemitar. The money was logged for destruction.

March 4

A caller in the 1200 block of Santa Fe Lane reported at 2:15 p.m. being contacted by the victim who said a male pointed a gun at him and then drove off. The officer met with the caller and the victim who stated he saw a red car parked near the gate and asked the male suspect if he could help him. The male pointed a handgun at him and then drove off. The victim thought the car may have come from the neighbor’s home. The officers met with the neighbors who said there was no red car at the residence and did not know who the suspect was. At this time the suspect is not known.

A victim reported at 4:43 p.m. that a male arrived at Jackson Ranch Steakhouse, exited the car, took two chile ristras that were hanging near the entrance, and then left. The officer was shown a security camera video of the vehicle and the male suspect. The officer was not able to identify the male in the video. At this time the suspect is not known.

A caller reported at 1:35 p.m. that a male suspect was seen throwing a beer bottle at a building in the 300 block of N. Sixth Street and breaking a window. The suspect was identified and contacted and denied breaking the window. The suspect was summoned to court.

An officer was called at 4:22 p.m. to a residence in the 600 block of Grant Street where a woman reported that somebody entered her yard and stole her bike. The victim provided the officer with a description along with the brand of the bike but was unable to provide a serial number for the bike.

An officer was called at 5:19 p.m. to The Tire Shop on Highway 85 in reference to a theft. The victim stated he had a car that has been left at his business for approximately a month, and this morning at approximately 11 a.m. he noticed the rear passenger wheel and tire were missing. The victim stated he believes a certain male is the one who took it because he asked to buy it recently.

March 6

An officer was dispatched to a residence on School of Mines Road where the female victim said she was sexually assaulted by a male suspect. She was questioned about the incident, and her clothing and bedding were taken for evidence. The officer set up a SANE examination for her, but she declined to go to the exam. The female is not complying with the investigation.

An officer was dispatched at 10 p.m. to a residence in the 500 block of Second Street for a break-in. The officer cleared the residence and met with a male victim and noticed where the door to the residence had been damaged. The victim stated he was missing a television and some prescription drugs. The officer was advised of a possible suspect.

March 7

A caller from McDonald’s reported a suspect was terminated from the company for embezzlement. The caller confronted the suspect, who denied taking money. The caller told the officer a video was available showing the suspect making fraudulent returns and keeping the money. The officer asked that the video and receipts be turned over.

A caller reported at 4:11 p.m. finding fake money in a storage room. The caller stated an employee was suspected of having the fake money. The employee was terminated, and the caller turned over the money.

A victim from Days Inn reported at 6:24 p.m. the suspect struck the victim with a bottle on the side of the head and took their cell phone and prescription medication. The officer did see a cut on the victim’s head. The victim said the suspect was staying at a home on Neel. Officers checked the home, but the suspect was not there. Charges will be filed.

A caller in the 1200 block of Sixth Street reported at 5:27 p.m. a child was walking near the roadway and was almost struck by a vehicle. The child ran toward a residence in a trailer park. The officer contacted the child and took the child to the home. The officer met with a male at the home who said another male was supposed to be watching the child while the child’s mother was at work. The officer met with the mother. The mother advised her boyfriend was supposed to be watching the child. The child was returned to the mother.

March 9

A victim was at Circle K and left her cell phone in the bathroom. When she went back to retrieve it, it was gone. She spoke to a female who was leaving the bathrooms, and the female denied taking the phone. The officer was able to contact the female who again claimed she did not take the phone. The officer checked the video and saw another female leaving the bathroom who appeared to be putting something in her pockets. That person has not been located for questioning.

A caller reported at 3:57 p.m. that a female was violating a domestic order by moving and not allowing the male to see his child. The officer was provided with a copy of a domestic order and then met with the female who said she did move from Belen, but the male knew where she was staying with their child. She conceded that she did change her phone number, but was told by her attorney to wait to have contact until the next court hearing. The officer documented the incident. Both parties were advised to bring up the issues in the next hearing.

A victim in the 100 block of El Camino Real reported at 4:07 p.m. that an unknown suspect removed the screens on the victim’s windows and left them next to the windows. The victim said she believes someone is trying to enter her home and suspects a neighbor might have something to do with the screens being removed. The officers met with the neighbor, who said she has not been near the victim’s home and had been accused of bothering the victim since she moved into the complex. She said she does not know the victim and does not know why she would be named.

A victim in the 1200 block of El Camino Real reported at 8:59 p.m. that someone was following the victim and throwing rocks at their car while driving. The victim could not identify any suspects and could not provide any possible suspects. No damage was done to the victim’s car.

March 10

A driver was pulled over on NE Frontage Road at 3:13 a.m. for a traffic infraction. The suspect had a revoked/suspended driver’s license and no proof of insurance. The officer told the suspect the car would be towed and had the suspect exit the car. Officers began a tow inventory and located several packages of Suboxone strips wrapped for distribution. The vehicle was towed and the suspect was processed and booked into the SCDC. The evidence was logged at the Police Department.

A victim in the 200 block of Second Street reported that the suspect was continuing to harass the victim by yelling and digging up property boundary markers, The victim provided video of the suspect digging at the property boundary. The suspect is on conditions of release for previous harassment charges. The victim was able to view video camera footage showing the suspect walking the property line and yelling in several videos. The officer filed charges against the suspect.

Officers were called at 11:47 a.m. to a home in the 600 block of Medley for a trespasser. The caller said the suspect was on the property after being told the previous day to stay off the property. The victim said the suspect tried taking rocks from the yard the day before and was told not to return to the home. The suspect returned and attempted to gather some of the rocks. The suspect was told to leave and left down the road. He was identified and located. He claimed he was not on the property and was just looking at rocks on the sidewalk. The suspect was advised to stay off the property. Charges are pending.

March 11

Officers were called to a home on Juniper Avenue for an argument and damaged property. The victim told officers the suspect was verbally abusive and making threats. The suspect was seen walking in the yard. He was upset and cursing at officers and the victim. The victim said she was getting the suspect out of bed so she could take him to work, but he pushed her out of the room and closed the door on her. The victim kicked the door back open causing the door to hit the suspect on the face and causing a cut. The victim and her husband stated the suspect has been out of control and had been making threats. The officer met with the suspect who confirmed what the victim said. The officer went back to meet with the victim, and the suspect became angry at a comment made by the victims and began verbally threatening to hurt the male victim. The suspect was pulled away and continued to make verbal threats. The officer began placing the suspect in handcuffs, but suspect two began to interfere and agitate the other suspect. Suspect two was taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs. Both suspects were taken to the police department, where the suspect denied making any threats in the home and stated they do not have contact with the victims and did not threaten the victims. The officer contacted JPPO and was advised the children did not meet the criteria for transport. The children were released to a grandmother.

March 12

An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of California Street for a possible drunk driver. The officer met with a male sitting in a vehicle and noted an odor of alcohol coming from him. He admitted to driving and was asked to perform field sobriety tests. After probable cause was determined, he was arrested. He gave a breath sample and was also asked for a blood sample.

An officer was dispatched to Daniels Funeral Home at 10:59 p.m. for a suspicious male. The male was detained, and the officer searched the business. The officer did not see any signs of forced entry. The officer did locate an open door, and the business was cleared. The male was released.

An officer was dispatched to Walmart at 7:14 p.m. where a female said her purse was stolen from her shopping cart. The officer was able to view the video and see two females take the purse from the cart. Later, the officer was advised of the purse being returned but money was missing from inside. The officer is trying to identify the suspect.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Bursum for a stolen motor vehicle. A male advised the officer that he and his daughter share the vehicle and that his daughter had not used the vehicle lately. He said his vehicle had been missing for three days. The officer had him sign a theft declaration, and it was entered into NCIC as a stolen motor vehicle. Later, the officer was informed that the vehicle was left at the library by the male’s daughter. It was taken out of NCIC.

An officer was dispatched at 8:10 a.m. to Circle K for drug paraphernalia located. The officer met with a worker who said she had found a straw at her place of employment. The officer made a report on the incident.
