April 25

An officer was dispatched to Socorro Police Department at 12:07 p.m. for a report. The officer met with a female who said she received a letter from a debt collection agency stating she owed money. She said she called the debt collector and told them she had never opened the account. She was advised to make a report on the incident.

An officer was dispatched to a residence for a domestic in progress. While en route officer was advised of a male pulling a female back into the mobile home as the female was asking for help. The officer arrived and announced for several minutes. Yelling was heard from inside the residence and the officer breached the front door and made contact with a male and female. Both parties denied anything had happened.

An officer was dispatched at 4:48 p.m. to the charter school for a report. The principal told the officer a fire was started between a dumpster and the building. The officer looked at security camera footage of the incident but was not able to make out anyone in the video. The officer did see where a chair was on fire.

April 26

An officer was called to the Plaza in reference to a stolen money order. The reporting person stated the suspect was trying to cash a stolen money order taken from the Lemitar Post Office. The officer spoke with the investigator for the burglary and attempted to make contact with the suspect but was unable to due to him leaving.

An officer responded at 1:50 p.m. to Bullock Avenue for a vehicle that was on fire. Officer made sure the vehicle was unoccupied. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire.

April 27

An officer was dispatched at 12:47 a.m. to a residence in the 300 block of Mt. Carmel for stolen property. The victim told the officer two of his signs were taken. The officer was shown video of the incident but was unable to identify the persons who took the signs.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Leroy where a woman said her money was taken from her wallet. She advised the officer of the only person at her residence at the time of the theft. Charges were filed.

April 28

Officer was called at 1 p.m. to Walmart in reference to a male possibly trying to harm himself. The officer knew that the male had an active warrant for his arrest. The officer asked him if he wanted to harm himself and he replied he did not. He was placed under arrest and transported to SCDC and booked on his warrant.

Officers were called at 1 p.m. to Walmart for a male causing problems. The officers were advised the suspect was leaving in a vehicle and was possibly intoxicated. The suspect was contacted and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. He did admit to drinking two alcoholic beverages within the last several hours. After failing field sobriety tests, the suspect was arrested and advised of the implied consent warning. He refused to take a breath test and was taken to the hospital for medical clearance. At the hospital, the suspect was allowed to use the bathroom. In the bathroom he let his pants fall down and refused to raise them up. The officer removed the handcuffs and the suspect grabbed onto the officer’s hand. He was taken to the ground and secured and booked at the SCDC.

An officer was called at 11:41 p.m. to a residence in the 2000 block of Fatima Road in reference to a burglary. The victim stated he was gone from his residence for approximately two hours and when he returned, he noticed an item missing from his residence. The victim gave the names of two females as possibly entering his residence.

April 29

An officer was called at 12:30 p.m. to the Socorro Police Department where a male wanted to speak with an officer. The reporting person stated he was at Walmart when the male suspect was aggressive toward him and told him to get out of his way. The reporting person stated he did not want the officer to contact the suspect and just wanted the incident documented just in case it escalates.

An officer was called at 6:09 p.m. to the 100 block of Sixth Street in reference to a loose dog. The reporting person stated her dog was attacked by a dog from another space number. The officer checked the dog and noticed it to be injured. The officer met with the owner of the other dog who stated the dog broke out of its collar. The owner was cited.

An officer was called at 9:51 p.m. to the 500 block of Highway 85 where a battery had occurred. The male victim stated another male walked up to him and punched him for no reason and then left the area. The victim was able to identify the suspect. The suspect was not located.

April 30

An officer was dispatched at 8:03 p.m. to a residence in the 500 block of Sixth Street where a stolen wallet was reported. The officer met with the victim, who said another female took her wallet. The officer was able to speak with the suspect who claimed she didn’t do it.

An officer was called at 9:30 p.m. to the Socorro Police Department in reference to a female wanting to meet with an officer. The reporting person stated her son came home from work with a military VA card he said was given to him. She stated she was unsure if her son was supposed to have the card. The officer took possession of the card and was able to get a contact number for the cardholder but was unable to make contact with him. The card was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

May 1

An officer was dispatched at 1:49 p.m. to the 400 block of California Street for a stolen motor vehicle. The officer said her vehicle was towed from her residence to a safe place, but when she went to claim it, it was not where it was supposed to be. She said she wanted to report her vehicle stolen. The officer had the victim fill out a theft declaration and the vehicle was entered into NCIC as a missing vehicle.

An officer was dispatched at 1:50 p.m. to a residence in the 200 block of Mt. Carmel and met with a male who said his neighbor was burning items in the backyard. The officer met with the neighbor who was burning one piece of paper at a time in a barrel. The neighbor extinguished a fire in the barrel with a glass of water.

Officers were dispatched at 6:05 p.m. to a residence in the 200 block of Mt. Carmel for the removal of a male. When officers arrived, the male had left the area. Officers were called back a brief time later and met with a male who had a knife pointed to his chest. An officer was able to have him drop the knife and speak with the officers. He was upset and made comments about hurting himself. The male was transported to Socorro General Hospital for a mental evaluation where he continued to make comments about self-harm. The male was transported to Behavioral Health in Albuquerque

An officer was dispatched at 11:30 p.m. to speak with a female about damage to a motor vehicle. The female victim said her ex-boyfriend had thrown a large rock at her car and then took off running. Officer did notice damage to the vehicle. The suspect was charged.

May 2

An officer was called at 9:32 a.m. to the 500 block of Highway 85 in reference to a male wanting to make a report. The officer met with the reporting person who stated a male entered the building and attempted to take a TV. The reporting person stated he was able to stop the male from taking the TV but wanted to trespass the male from the property.

An officer was called at 2:49 p.m. to Parkview Elementary School in reference to CYFD requesting officer assistance. Officer arrived and met with the CYFD worker who stated a CPS report was made by the school for possible excessive discipline and possible medical situations. The officer sat in with the CYFD worker while he interviewed two siblings at the school, and then accompanied the CYFD worker to the children’s residence to speak with the father. After the CYFD worker spoke with the father he informed the officer he did not believe anything criminal has occurred.

Officer called at 8:20 p.m. to the 7-Eleven to remove an intoxicated male who would press the emergency fuel shut-off button and the store would not be able to sell fuel again until the pumps were reset. The reporting person stated she attempted to ask the male to move to a different area, but he became irate and threatened to kill her. Officers located the suspect in the area and placed him under arrest. He was transported to SCDC and booked on his charges.

May 3

An officer was called at 7:28 p.m. to the 700 block of Reservoir Road in reference to harassment. Officer arrived and met with the victim who stated her neighbor has been harassing her constantly and has made multiple reports. The officer met with the suspect and advised him to leave the victim alone. Officer met with the victim who stated she wanted to press charges against the suspect.

May 4

An officer was called at 7:10 p.m. to a residence in the 1100 block of Chaparral in reference to an aggressive dog. The officer met with the reporting person who stated the dog was barking and chasing after his son. The officer met with the owner of the dog who stated they wished to surrender the dog. Officer took possession of the dog and issued the owner citations. The dog was transported to the animal shelter.

An officer was patrolling at 8:28 p.m. to the 1200 block of Chaparral and noticed a dog that was not restrained. The officer was informed of the address where the dog was kept and went to the residence and met with the homeowner. The homeowner stated the owner of the dog was not home. The officer told the owner of the residence the dog would be taken. The officer restrained the dog and while waiting for another officer to assist with transport, the dog’s owner arrived and became agitated with the officer. Officer released the dog and issued the owner citations.

An officer was called to Sarracino Middle School where the reporting person stated she was informed of a student possibly being touched inappropriately. The officer was provided with contact information for the mother and made contact with her. The mother stated she would like a report on the incident.

An officer was called to the 1500 block of NE Frontage Road in reference to a deceased male. The officer met with EMS who stated the male exhibited no signs of life. The officer learned that the male had cirrhosis and was given a short time to live. The officer turned over possession of the deceased to OMI.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of Chaparral in reference to a residence being shot at. The reporting person stated he was inside when he heard two gunshots to the south of the residence. He looked out of the window and noticed a vehicle leaving the area. Officers checked the area and located two 9mm casings to the south of the residence and two bullet holes in the exterior wall of the residence. The officer contacted a neighbor who stated they possibly had video of the incident but had to check the cameras and would contact officers to give them the footage.
