The following items were taken from reports at the Socorro Police Department

Aug. 1

An officer was called to the 200 block of Neel in reference to a break-in. The officer met with the victim who stated that items valued at $750 were missing from her office. The officer checked the rest of the building and noticed a door to another area that is rented out by the owner of the building. The owner arrived and said he was there a few days earlier and there were no signs of forced entry at the time. He said he also noticed multiple items missing from the building. The missing items were valued at $4,465.

Aug. 2

An officer was called at 2:33 p.m. to Cooney’s Package Liquor in reference to a theft. The reporting person stated a male entered the store, grabbed some liquor then ran out. The male then got into a white sedan and left the area.

An officer was called to a residence in the 100 block of Juniper Avenue for a theft report. The victim stated she had the suspects doing yard work for her when she noticed some items missing from a storage shed. She stated she went to speak with the suspects and noticed some of her belongings at the suspects’ residence. The officer observed a trailer full of property belonging to the victim at the suspects’ residence. The officer also noticed where the sides of the victim’s shed holding her property were removed and replaced.

An officer stopped a male known to have a warrant for his arrest at 3:35 p.m. on California Street and advised him he had a warrant and to place his hands behind his back. The suspect then took off running, crossing over to Sixth Street, and jumping two fences before he was Tased. He was placed under arrest and a search of his person turned up a blue pill which was recognized as fentanyl. The suspect was taken to Socorro General Hospital for medical clearance and then to the Socorro County Detention Center where he was booked on his warrant, possession of a controlled substance and evading an officer.

Aug. 3

An officer was interviewing a female on Highway 85 when another female came up and started yelling at the officer, saying that all he was doing was harassing her, and continuing to yell at the officer. After speaking to the first female, the officer turned his attention to the other female who he has dealt with in the past. She was run through NCIC and found to have a warrant for her arrest. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Socorro General Hospital. At the hospital, she made several complaints about the handcuffs being placed in the rear causing her back pain. The handcuffs were evenly spaced in tightness. The suspect then stated she could not breathe, but her oxygen levels were good, according to the nurse. She was medically cleared and transported to SCDC on her warrant.

Aug. 4

An officer was dispatched at 1:30 a.m. to a residence on Center Street for a larceny. A male victim said his uncle took a hammer from his porch. The victim said when confronted, the suspect raised the hammer as if he was going to strike him. The officer was able to locate the suspect later in his shift and advised him not to return to the residence, and charged him with aggravated assault, larceny and criminal trespass/not posted.

An officer was dispatched at 9:43 a.m. to a residence in the 100 block of California for a broken window. The officer saw that a window had been broken with a rock. No suspects in the case at time of report.

An officer was dispatched at 10:10 a.m. to Quick and Easy Tire & Lube for a burglary. The manager showed the officer a video of a male getting into a vehicle. The officer was able to identify the male. The officer did not locate the suspect at the time of the report but did file charges of breaking and entering.

An officer was called at 8:38 p.m. to the underpass on Otero Street for vandalism. The reporting person stated he witnessed the suspect vandalizing the underpass. The officer met with the suspect who admitted to being the vandal. The victim stated he wanted to press charges and believed the damage to be approximately $500.

An officer was called at 1:23 p.m. to Walmart for two individuals who had been trying to return items that were stolen from another store. The suspects were arrested and booked into SCDC on charges of receiving stolen property.

Aug. 5

An officer was dispatched at 2 p.m. to a residence in the 1000 block of Cassidy for a burglary. The female victim said she noticed her purse missing from her vehicle. She said the purse contained her green card and $140 in cash. She stated the vehicle was not locked.

An officer was dispatched at 5 p.m. to Cottonwood Valley Charter School for a broken window. The officer viewed a video of school kids involved in an altercation in which one juvenile runs and another throws a rock at him, but the rock misses and struck a window. The officer was unable to identify any of the involved juveniles.

An officer met with a female at 2:42 p.m. who wanted to report her father-in-law missing. The female said she had not seen him in several days and thought he was possibly in Albuquerque, and she wanted to report him missing.

An officer met with a male in a local business who had a warrant for his arrest. As the officer was speaking the male fled. He was caught and he was placed in handcuffs. The male also had shoplifted items on his person. He was arrested on charges of shoplifting and evading an officer, in addition to the warrant.

An officer was called to Walmart at 2:46 p.m. where a female who had been viewed on camera two days prior stole $658.76 in merchandise. She was located in the store and brought to the office where she admitted to shoplifting by saying, “I didn’t steal that much stuff.” She was charged with shoplifting and released.

Aug. 6

An officer was dispatched at 9 a.m. to McDonald’s for a male taking money. The officer was advised of an ex-employee going behind the counter and taking money and leaving the business. He was charged with embezzlement.

An officer contacted a male running across the street at Baca and California. The male gave consent to be searched and the officer located a plastic bag with two fentanyl pills in his possession. The pills were sent to the lab for testing and the male was charged with possession of a controlled substance

An officer was dispatched at 5:25 a.m. to a residence in the 100 block of J.O. Gallegos Road for breaking and entering. The female victim said her ex-boyfriend forced entry into the residence and struck her. She stated that while she was trying to call the police the ex-boyfriend took her cell phone away. The officer was able to locate the suspect and questioned him about the incident. He was arrested and incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center on charges of breaking and entering, larceny, battery against a household member, criminal damage to property and interference with communication.

Aug. 7

An officer was called at 8:14 p.m. to the 600 block of Alta Vista in reference to a male being chased by another male in a vehicle. The victim stated the suspect was chasing him due to him owing money for narcotics. He said he was walking when he noticed the suspect’s vehicle and began running when the suspect pointed a pistol at him. He said he did not want a report because he was not in fear for his life. The officer attempted to locate the suspect but was unable to at the time of the report.

Aug. 8

An officer was called at 11 a.m. to the 2300 block of Fatima in reference to harassment. The victim stated she has been receiving messages from the suspect claiming she owes the person money for a phone her son stole. She said her son admitted to stealing the phone but threw it out in the roadway. The victim stated she wanted the harassment incident documented. The officer contacted the suspect and advised her to stop contacting the victim, adding that a report was already made for the larceny of the phone.

An officer was dispatched at 3:04 p.m. to Calle Bonita where a residence had been broken into. The officer was shown a broken window to the residence, and the victim said she was missing a few clothing items. The officer was not given a suspect.

An officer met with a complainant at 8:53 a.m. who explained that her ex-boyfriend was recently arrested due to him breaking into her home and assaulting her. Part of his condition of release was that he was not to contact her in any way. She said his mother is now texting her. The complainant stated she spoke with El Puente who advised her to make a police report of the incident due to a pending protection order being put in place. The officer contacted the mother via phone and advised her to not have any contact with the woman to prevent any future conflict.

A male on Melody Lane with an active warrant called an officer to come and pick him up because he wanted to turn himself in. He was taken to SCDC and incarcerated.

Aug. 9

An officer was patrolling at 1:11 a.m. for a vehicle that had been reported stolen the day before. The officer spotted the vehicle at Neel and Nelson and was attempting to catch up to it before losing sight of it. A state police officer later found the vehicle abandoned and gave a description of a male seen in the vicinity of it. The male was located and gave the officer false information pertaining to his identity. The officer recognized him. He was found to be in possession of narcotics and placed under arrest and booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance and concealing identity.

An officer was called at 12:29 p.m. to Walmart in reference to embezzlement. The reporting person stated an employee had been embezzling money from the store for the last six months. The reporting person took the officer to the suspect, who was read her Miranda warning, and asked if she wanted to answer questions. She said she would answer the officer’s questions and admitted to making fraudulent transactions for gift cards and using them for her personal needs. The approximate amount of money embezzled was $583. She was charged with multiple counts of Larceny and the officer trespassed her from the store and forwarded the case to the District Attorney’s office.

An officer was called at 8:31 p.m. to a residence on Sunset Avenue in reference to a trespasser on the neighbor’s property. The reporting person stated she was informed of a male staying in a shed at her neighbor’s residence. The officer located the suspect and placed him under arrest. He was transported to SCDC and booked on a charge of breaking and entering.
