June 29

A woman on Faulkner Road called to report that a male suspect using a Facebook account messaged her. The male informed her that she won $50,000 and was asked to provide images of her bank card, ID and Social Security card, and to purchase a $100 Google card. The victim provided the images and the card. She stated that a friend of hers was hacked and this was how the suspect was able to send her the messages. The victim said she notified her bank and state and federal fraud departments. The officer documented the incident. The suspect is not known at this time.

June 30

A woman on Caine Street reported at 6:48 p.m. that she arrived home and noticed the front door was hard to open. Once the door was open she noticed some of her rings on the floor but at the time she thought her cats got into her jewelry. She put the jewelry away but then started noticing things missing, including a laptop computer, two rifles from her daughter’s bedroom, several rings and a DVR system. The victim was not able to provide serial numbers for the guns at this time. She showed the officer a rear sliding door that had a piece of plywood covering the opening. The wood was removed and pushed in. At this time there are no suspects.

An officer met with a CYFD staff member and children at 6:12 p.m. at a guardian’s home at the request of a CYFD office in Albuquerque. The officer was informed that the children were claiming abuse at the hands of their father who resides in Albuquerque. The allegations were that the father threw a shovel at one of the children and had pushed the two children down and continued to push the children if they stood up. The children provided a statement to the officer and the details of the incident. The CYFD staff member was setting up a forensic interview with the children. The incident was documented.

A victim in the 900 block of California reported at 9:04 p.m. someone flattened their tires with a sharp object. The officer checked the tires and found punctures to the tires. The victim estimated the damage at $350.

A caller on Santa Fe Lane reported having to repair broken windows on a mobile home that were shot out with a BB gun. The caller said the windows have been shot out three separate times and believed a neighbor child was the person doing the shooting. The officer was called out a second time for the neighbor being outside with a BB gun. The neighbor was contacted and denied shooting out the windows. There were no witnesses identifying the suspect as the one damaging the windows.

A woman on Spring Street reported at 12:45 p.m. that a female suspect had got her bank card information somehow and transferred money out of her account using a Facebook account in the amount of $400. She said the suspect dates her grandson who lives behind her residence. She gave the officer the bank statements. The officer was able to meet with both suspects. The female suspect denied responsibility and claimed the male suspect had gained access to her Facebook app and was transferring money to his reloadable bank card. The grandson was contacted and denied everything, stating the female was responsible and he did not have the bank card. At this time no suspects have been charged.

A caller on Granada reported at 4:45 p.m. that the suspect took her vehicle during a visitation with their children. As the officer was meeting with the caller the suspect showed up with the car. The officers met with the caller again and asked the victim to check the car for items that were not wanted. The officer observed the caller remove a gray box, and inside the gray box was a plastic baggie with a crystal substance. The officer collected the item and located a baggie of marijuana and scale with the two items. The suspect said the marijuana was his but the crystal substance was not his, that it belonged to a friend. The suspect was placed under arrest and the vehicle was searched with the consent of the owner. The officers turned up glass pipes with drug residue. The car was returned to the caller and the suspect was processed and booked into SCDC.

July 1

A man reported at 7:13 p.m. that he was cleaning his car at the car wash in the 700 block of California. He set his keys and wallet down on a concrete barrier while cleaning, but forgot to pick them up and left. When he realized her forgot them he returned immediately. As he was returning he saw a Jeep leaving the stall he had used, and on checking found his keys and wallet gone from the barrier. He said he went looking for the Jeep to no avail. The officer attempted to locate the vehicle described but was not able to locate it.

An officer checking the vacant Sands Motel found three suspects staying in one of the rooms. They were removed and told not to return.

A woman reported at 12:45 p.m. that her ex-boyfriend had been living at a house on Blue Canyon and he would have their son stay over at the home. She said when she checked the home she found several items with drug residue on them and provided the officer with photographs. She said the suspect has since moved out. The officer documented the incident.

Officers were called to a home in the 800 block of Granada to remove a male suspect with a knife from the residence. He was upset and had asked her to unlock the door to her vehicle so he could remove his belongings. The suspect was removing the belongings as the officers arrived. He admitted to using the knife to unlock the door but figured it was OK because it was still his home. The suspect was placed under arrest and taken to the police department. The case was staffed with the District attorney’s office but no charges were approved. The suspect was released but advised not to return to the home.

A victim on Lemitar Lane reported that an unknown suspect entered his vehicle, causing damage to the interior of the vehicle and damaging the windshield. The officer did see the car had damage to an interior light and windshield, with items thrown around the vehicle. The victim said he did not see any items missing and thinks the person just wanted to cause damage. At this time there are no suspects.

July 2

An officer contacted a male on Texas Avenue following a call about a male threatening to harm himself. The male suspect was known to have a valid arrest warrant and he was arrested and booked into SCDC.

A driver was pulled over on S. Highway 85 at 2:34 a.m. for an equipment violation. The suspect was advised of the reason for the stop and was asked for his license and paperwork on the car. He provided an ID card but could not provide paperwork for the car. A check with NCIC showed he had a suspended driver’s license. The officer told the suspect the vehicle was going to be towed. Assisting officers located narcotics in the vehicle during the tow inventory, and the suspect was arrested and searched. During a search, the officer located a baggie with a crystal substance along with a large amount of money. He was processed and booked SCDC. The substance was field tested and was positive for methamphetamine. The narcotics and money were logged as evidence.

A victim reported at 11:10 a.m. that she checked for a leak in the roof of her home in the 1200 block of Calle de Largo, and discovered a .22 cal bullet stuck in the roofing material. The officer was shown pictures of the bullet. The victim said the damage to the roof and interior ceiling was still pending an estimate. She said she has heard gunshots in the area before and believed the shots came from the southeast side of the home.

An officer was dispatched to Socorro General Hospital in reference to fraud. The reporting party stated she was told by Presbyterian HR that someone had filed for unemployment using her Social Security number. She stated she currently works and hadn’t filed for unemployment. She said Presbyterian HR stopped the unemployment process and has contacted NM Workforce Solutions. No further information at this time.

Officers were dispatched to the Sedillo Park restroom in reference to a trespasser, where the park foreman said the suspect locked himself in the restroom with a deadbolt and was refusing to come out. After the officers arrived, the park foreman pried the door open and officers found the suspect holding drug paraphernalia in his hand. The paraphernalia contained a crystal-like substance that was field-tested and was positive for methamphetamines. The suspect was arrested and booked on his charges. The jail called the officer back after finding more narcotics on the suspect. The officer was provided with a piece of plastic that contained a crystal substance that also tested positive for methamphetamine.

An officer was called back to the Socorro Police Department at 1 p.m. to speak with a male reporting a break-in in the 200 block of Fisher Avenue. He said had been out of town for a few days and when he returned he found some things were missing from his residence. The officer arrived at the male’s residence and was shown where items were moved around and some possibly taken. The victim gave a name of a possible suspect in the incident.

A caller in the 200 block of Fifth Street reported at 9:57 a.m. that the male suspect took a car from his son and was refusing to return the car. The caller said the suspect said he wanted money that was owed to him before he returned the car. The caller was able to contact the son and have him come to the home. The son said the male took the keys, not by force, and drove off in the car, but he did not want any charges filed in the case. The officer was given contact information for the victim and owner of the car. The officer called the owner but did not get a response. At this time the registered owner has not called police to complete a theft declaration. The original caller contacted police 10 days later and said the suspect contacted his son and said the car was being returned.

A caller in the 600 block of Highway 60 reported at 4:50 p.m. that his neighbor was throwing cat feces into their yard. He said the neighbor believes the cats belong to the caller. The caller admitted the cats are in his yard, but that they are strays. The officer met with the suspect, who maintained the cats belong to the caller because the caller feeds the cats. The suspect was advised not to throw cat feces into her neighbor’s yard and dispose of them in the trash can. The caller and suspect both asked for animal control to set out traps. The information was passed on to the animal control staff.

July 3

A caller from Dollar General reported at 1:25 p.m. a customer used counterfeit money at the store. The suspect paid with a $20 bill. After the suspect left, the caller checked the money and saw that it was fake. The officer noted the money was fake and even had “Prop Money” printed on it. The officer attempted to locate the suspect at the last known address, but she no longer lived at the home. An assisting officer met with the suspect later, and she denied using the counterfeit money or even knowing the money she had was counterfeit. No charges will be filed at this time.

Officers were called at 4:03 p.m. to Center Street where two males were beating up another male. Officers arrived and met with a witness and the victim, who had visible injuries to his face and mouth. The victim said the juvenile suspect was trying to fight with him over pictures of the suspect’s younger sister. The juvenile suspect began striking the victim in the face with a fist and took the victim to the ground. While on the ground the adult suspect also began hitting and kicking the victim. The witness said the two stopped when she confronted them and told them she had called the police. The victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Charges are pending in the case.

An officer was dispatched at 9:01 p.m. to a residence on Lucero Street to check on a male who had not contacted his family in a few days. The officer met with his sister who said he was supposed to be at a motel with a female. The officer looked around the residence and noticed a window slightly open. The officer spoke with the grandmother who said the male’s brother was on his way and said she no longer needed police assistance.

An officer was dispatched at 9:44 p.m. to a residence on Calle Bonita for a breaking and entering.  Officer did notice the doorframe broken and the door pushed in. There was a small amount of blood by the door and the homeowner said her dog possibly bit the possible intruder. The homeowner said no items were missing.

July 4

An officer responded at 9:50 p.m. to a traffic accident on Fairgrounds Road where the driver showed signs of intoxication. Standard field sobriety tests were given and after probable cause was determined the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver gave a breath sample into the IR-8000 with the results of .15 and .15. The vehicle was towed and the driver was incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center.

July 5

An officer was dispatched at 1:09 p.m. to speak with a female about a domestic. She said she was battered by her husband by him grabbing her and moving her out of the way. The officer met with the husband who said his wife was standing with the refrigerator door open, so he walked around her and shut the door to the fridge. The officer spoke with a witness who told the officer no battery had occurred.

An officer dispatched at 10:16 a.m. to a residence in the 300 block of School of Mines Road for a male who was in the residence without permission. The officer met with the victim who said at first he thought someone was on his roof, but then a male subject entered his residence through a back door, saying he was running from some bad people. The victim gave the officer a description of the suspect, who was located a short time later and under the influence of a narcotic. The suspect was making concerning comments. He was given a citation for trespassing and taken to Socorro General Hospital for a mental evaluation.

Officer dispatched at 11:24 a.m. to a residence on Giles Lane for a trespassing. The officer met with a female who said her ex-boyfriend had jumped a locked fence and then knocked on the windows and door for several minutes. She had a video of the male jumping the fence and banging on the door. While the officer was at residence the suspect called her cell phone, but the officer answered and told him to leave her alone.

Officers were dispatched at 1:44 a.m. to a loud party call on Lucero. When officers arrived they noticed several individuals in an altercation. As the officers were separating the individuals a handgun was noticed on the floor, which was secured by an officer. After the party was broken up and everyone left, the gun was run through NCIC. There was no record of the handgun. It was logged into evidence at Socorro Police Department.

July 6

Officers were called at 5 p.m. to Sedillo Park park where a dog had been burned and left abandoned. The officer located the dog and had the dog taken to the veterinary clinic. The officer met with the caller, who said she was having lunch at the park and heard the dog crying. She saw that the dog was coming closer to her and opened her car door. When the dog attempted to enter her car she could see it was injured. The caller advised there was no one seen dumping the dog in the park. The case is under investigation. The dog had to be put down due to the injuries sustained.
