On Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:00 A.M., in a regular meeting at the Socorro County Annex, 198 Neel Socorro, NM 87801, the Board of County Commissioners of Socorro County will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of discussing the adoption of Socorro County Ordinance 2021-01 An Ordinance Licensing & Regulating Cannabis Growth and Prohibiting The Use Of Non-Feminized Cannabis Seeds & Plants and Regulating the Proximity of Cannabis Establishment to Established Schools and Daycare Centers

The purpose of the proposed Ordinance is to establish rules regulating the licensing of growers producing cannabis in Socorro County to support and sustain the growth of cannabis in the County as an essential agricultural product. The Ordinance will also limit the proximity of a cannabis establishment to a school or daycare center. The Ordinance will prohibit the use of non-feminized cannabis seeds and plants and impose criminal and civil penalties for its violation. The Board of County Commissioners may vote to adopt the Ordinance at the meeting following the public hearing.

Copies of the proposed Ordinance are available for the public to view free of charge online at www.socorrocounty.net or at the County Clerk’s Office or the County Manager’s Office, 201 Park Street, Socorro, NM. Copies of the proposed Ordinance may be purchased by the public from either office for $1.25. Written questions or comments to be considered at the public hearing will be accepted until 5:00 P.M. on Monday, July 26, 2021, at the Socorro County Manger’s Office.
