Editor:

I have told this story so many times to family and friends that I felt I should share it with all of Socorro County.

On Sunday, Jan. 1, the very day that Onstar quit working on my pickup truck due to outdated technology, I had a blowout on I-25 south of Belen on my way to Albuquerque to help a homebound friend.

As I sat there on the shoulder contemplating what to do next, because my truck is quite recognizable, two different Socorro County residents spotted me on the side of the road and stopped to help.

In no time at all, my tire was changed, and I was on my way; I’m sure, long before Onstar could have found someone to send on a Sunday, on a holiday.

Both these men are humble and would have helped anyone in trouble, but I would like to thank Greg Schulte from Lemitar, a Midway volunteer fireman, and Jesus Acosta, Acosta Equipment in San Acacia.

I feel extremely blessed as should all who are fortunate enough to live in this area of New Mexico.
