Dear Editor:

In the October 7 edition of El Defensor Chieftain, there were several advertisements offering attractive dogs for sale. Prices ranged from $2,000 to $350.

In the same issue is a story about the local (Socorro) animal shelter which is at capacity with dogs tripled and doubled in kennels. Cost to adopt a shelter dog is $95, which includes spay or neuter, rabies shot and vaccinations (parvo, distemper and kennel cough).

The shelter dogs can be found in all sizes, purebred breeds and mixed breeds.

It is said you can’t buy love. But, you can buy a dog that will give love and you can find them at the Socorro Animal Shelter.

Yours sincerely,

Ruth White
