Lillian Raye Moss Dotson

May 31, 1925–March 14, 2021

Lillian Raye Moss Dotson, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on March 14, 2021, at the age of 95 in her home in Socorro, New Mexico. Lillian was born May 31, 1925, in Ozark, Arkansas, to Ernest Moss and Delpha Sells.

After she graduated from high school in Ozark, she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” in Kansas City during World War II. She then enrolled in Army Nurse Cadet training but was unable to complete the program as it was discontinued at the end of the war.

Lillian married Harold Chester Dotson, Sr., also from Ozark, on November 11, 1945 – several months after the end of World War II. Harold was a career pilot in the US Air Force. After the war, they were stationed in Panama Canal; New York; France; Tucson, Arizona; Rapid City, South Dakota; and Riverside, California.

Lillian and Harold raised two children: Sheila Raye Dotson and Harold Chester Dotson, Jr.

After Harold retired from the US Air Force, Lillian and Harold moved to Socorro to found Raychester Jewelry Manufacturing, which counted clients all over the US including actor Richard Gere. Lillian was an excellent golfer who won numerous tournaments.

Lillian also found a love for gardening.

She made incredible pecan pies, was a hospitable hostess, and loved her family.

Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son.

She is survived by sister Betty Jacobs (J.D.); sister-in-law Peggy Mathia; daughter Sheila Berger (Ed); daughter-in-law Nancy Dotson; grandchildren Brenda Pohl (Johannes), Fred Berger (Kathy), Aaron Berger (Liz), Kathleen Dano (Mike), Bradley Dotson (Eliana), Andrew Dotson (Kortnie); great-grandchildren Katrina, Nicky, Anika, Liliana, Shania, Kyle, Logan, Devin, Owen, Lila, Kareli, Maddison, Morgan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Lillian’s request, there will be no services held. Lillian will be laid to rest on private property near Socorro next to her husband and her son at a later date.
