Lucerita “Lucy” Davila

1949-2021

It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that on the morning of Tuesday, December 7th, 2021, Lucerita “Lucy” Davila, passed away at the age of 72.

Lucy was a beloved wife to her husband, Joseph R. Davila Jr., and beloved mother to three children, Catherine (Gregorio) Romero, Joseph R. (Nidia) Davila III, and Yvonne (Julian) Davila.

She is survived by her nine grandchildren: Justin (Augusta) Roberts, Alicia Romero, Destiny Davila, Marissa Romero, Dylan Avalos, Gregorio Romero Jr., Daneyah Davila, Julissa Avalos, and Sorayah Davila. Lucy is also survived by two brothers, Eddie (Tammy) Torres and Anthony (Debbie) Torres, a sister Carmela Torres, and many nieces and nephews.

Lucy was loving and a friend to many.  Her bright smile and giving heart will be greatly missed by all.  Lucy’s presence in our lives will be a void that is irreplaceable and her infamous Red Chile will never be duplicated.

Lucy was a long-time parishioner at San Miguel Church and dedicated her time as a CCD teacher for 15 years impacting many children’s lives.  She was strong in her Catholic Faith and Beliefs, defended those she loved, and unselfishly gave of herself to many with her loving heart.

A Funeral Service in Celebration of Lucy’s Life will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 09:30 a.m. (Rosary) and 10:00 a.m. (Mass) at San Miguel Church, in Socorro, New Mexico.  Lucy will thereafter be laid to rest at San Antonio Catholic Cemetery, San Antonio, New Mexico.

Due to COVID Restrictions/Guidelines, a private reception is to follow for her immediate family members only.  Please be considerate of the families’ wishes and of the COVID Restrictions/Guidelines.

Lucy felt very passionate and served as a donor for many years to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Lucy’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at the following link:  http://giftfunds.stjude.org/LucyMemorialFund.
