Sophomore Joseph Zamora pounded out four hits, and three Steers punched in three runs each as Magdalena evened its record at 2-2 as the Steers beat Lordsburg in a 15-9 road shootout on April 1.

Zamora went 4-5 at the plate and scored three runs, but the bats of Ayden Hersshbach, Kaleb Castanon, and Javen Tafoya split nine RBIs evenly.

Jayden Jaramillo and Josh Baca also added to the Steers RBI totals. Josiah Candelaria (3), Hershbach (2) and Baca (2) had multiple hits for Magdalena.

Lordsburg took a 4-1 lead after two innings, but the Steers responded with a seven-run third inning and tacked in five in the fifth to take control.

Magdalena was a perfect 11-11 when stealing bases, with Zamora and Candelaria swiping three each. Hershbach and Shane Montoya were 2-2, and Baca had one.

Montoya, Candeleria and Zamora combined on the mound for the win, with Montoya recording four strikeouts and Candeleria getting three. The Steers next home game is set for April 12 against Melrose.
