Rotarian Jon Morrison was presented the Rotary Foundation Major Donor Award by Past District Governor Dick Jones, for having given $10,000 to the Rotary Foundation over the course of his more than 20 years as a Rotarian.
Jon said that it took several years to finally figure out that the Rotary Foundation was the key to the ability for Rotary to do good works in the community and internationally. Local clubs get money for grants from money the clubs in the District send to the Foundation after three years. These are used to fund local and international grants that the clubs are supporting. The approximately 100 years that the Rotary Foundation has existed it has giving out over 4 billion dollars life changing, sustainable projects. This money has been added too by local club contributions.
From the Rotary International website:
The Rotary Foundation helps Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.
The Rotary Foundation is one of the highest rated Foundations by Charity Navigator with a 4 Star rating, their highest rating, with 91% of the funds given going to fund Rotary projects all over the world.
