Multiple Socorro County fire departments responded to a structure fire on Sunday afternoon at the corner of S. California and Meek Road around 1 p.m.

Firefighters arrived to find an adobe home fully involved and resorted to bringing in the City of Socorro’s ladder truck to battle the blaze from above. Fire crews worked quickly to prevent the fire from gaining access to a nearby home.

There appeared to be no injuries, but firefighters were forced to hydrate as they worked in 84 degree temperatures. Meek Road and the immediate area around the blaze is currently shutdown as cleanup work begins.
