Socorro County Lions Club plans Valentine's day dinner and dance
The Socorro County Lions Club is preparing for its first annual Valentine’s Day celebration featuring dinner, dancing and community connection, part of the organization’s ongoing effort to expand its membership and local service projects.
The event, set for Feb. 14, will include a spaghetti and meatball dinner with garlic bread, salad and drinks. Dessert options include chocolate mousse or cake. Music will be provided by K&B Karaoke and DJ Services of Socorro.
Tickets are $20 for individuals and $30 for couples, though organizers emphasize that “couple” is defined loosely.
“We don’t care if it’s your best friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife,” said Patricia Wilson of the Socorro Lions Club. “We just want people to come out, have fun and support the community.”
Wilson said the club hopes the event will help raise awareness about the Lions’ mission and encourage new members to join. The Lions Club is an international service organization, but each chapter focuses on local needs.
“Anyone can join the Lions,” Wilson said. “It is a community organization. Our goal is to make Socorro better and help in any way we can, anywhere we can.”
Those interested in joining or learning more can contact recruiter Patricia Wilson at 620‑238‑1088 or club president Moniec Adams at 575‑517‑0971.
The club will release additional details about upcoming projects and service activities as the Valentine’s event approaches.
