Olivio Lopez

1938-2021

Olivio Lopez, age 83, passed away on Saturday December 18, 2021. Olivio was born on June 3, 1938 to Hermenes and Adela Lopez in Luis Lopez, N.M. Olivio is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lila Lopez, his loving parents Hermenes and Adela Lopez, his loving sister, Helen Lopez, his loving brothers, Damacio (Junior) Lopez, Eddie Lopez and Steve Lopez, his loving son Dennis Lopez and loving grandson, Elijah Chavez.

Olivio is survived by his loving brother, David Lopez, his loving sisters, Carmen Valenzuela and her husband Ted, Sally Moreno and husband Pete, and Patsy Lopez Zamora and husband Raymond, his loving sons, Sammy Lopez, Gilbert Lopez, Leroy Lopez and wife Nena, and Ronnie Lopez, his loving daughters, Helen Lopez and Valerie Tenorio and husband Daniel, his loving 17 grandchildren, and loving 17 great-grandchildren.

Olivio was a hardworking member of the community. He was a contractor for over 40 years and continued to install carpet for his remaining years. Prior to being a contractor, he had the opportunity to be a part of various jobs, which included the levee project and building the flood control. Above all, Olivio’s most inspiring trait was his ability to become great friends with anyone he encountered.

He would greet you with a big smile and befriend you by the end of the conversation. Being around Olivio made people feel safe. His presence was warm and comforting. He cherished family and friends the most. Every day he would make his rounds visiting those he loved in Socorro. He loved to live in the moment and cruise the channel seeing nature. Olivio also enjoyed his time at the casino. He always had the best of luck. Seeing his 1964 GMC truck out in his driveway was always his pride and joy.

Olivo has passed away but his memories, love, teachings and mindset will live on forever in the hearts of the people that knew him and the family he raised.
