I would like to take this time to thank Senator Gabriel Ramos and our State Representative Gale Armstrong for their assistance and dedication to our community’s future. In 2019 Senator Ramos and Representative Armstrong lobbied for funding for the Socorro County Sheriff’s Office narcotics initiative “Operation New Beginning”. Since the beginning of Operation New Beginning the Socorro County Sheriff’s Office has executed 13 narcotics search warrants resulting in over 50 arrests, seizure of firearms, over one hundred thousand dollars in cash, methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, fentanyl, prescription pills, cocaine and stolen property to include stolen firearms. The operation has been very successful so far. Approximately half of the arrests have resulted in federal charges. Through these narcotics investigations our detectives have been able to solve numerous burglaries. Through these investigations our office has assisted with a homicide in Albuquerque. Our sources have assisted FBI and DEA in apprehending drug dealers across New Mexico. The battle is far from over. I have an amazing team. My detectives are second to none. We have more work to do and will not stop fighting the war on drugs. My message to the drug dealers in our community is this. “You are killing our family members with the drugs you are selling. If you have any conscience at all I suggest you stop providing your poison to our community. You may think you have outsmarted us and that we don’t know who you are. We do and we will be paying you a visit!”
