Paced by first place and back-to-back individual champion Ally Martinez, the Socorro Lady Warriors won the District 3-3A golf tournament at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Championship Golf Course in Ruidoso on May 1.

Ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, the Lady Warriors are looking for a threepeat at the state golf tournament set for May 8-9 at the Canyon Club at Four Hills in Albuquerque.

The Lady Warriors 1-2-3-5-6 finish by Martinez (89), Tivonne Anaya (91), Ariana Crespin (93), Natasha Apodaca (104) and Alex Crespin (110) bodes well for Socorro to add to its 36 combined team championships total.

The No. 4 ranked Socorro Warriors golf team is also headed to state after a runner-up finish at the District 3-3A golf tournament.

Luther Richardson’s score of 85 earned a fourth-place finish for Socorro, and Isaiah Silva was 6th with an 89. The Warriors had all five of their golfers in the top 16, with Andrew Handrich (89-11th), Robinson Ford (100-12th) and Ian Gonzales (101-16th).
