Susan Jacqueline Sanders

1943-2021

Susan Jacqueline Sanders, 78, Deming resident completed her journey to heaven on Monday, October 25, 2021.

Susan was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on February 28, 1943 and moved to New Mexico at a young age. Susan was a very loved wife of 61 years, and a mother of 3 children who did their best to change her hair prematurely gray. Despite this, she never failed to give them everything they needed to succeed. She didn’t hesitate to help out those less fortunate and was loved by all who knew her.

She retired from the Gallup/McKinley County School system. Susan was a member of the Vanderwagen Volunteer Fire Department, and the Datil Volunteer Fire Department for many years. She also worked with the Easter Seals. Susan is leaving a huge hole in the lives of her family and friends that can never be filled. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Buck Sanders of the home; a son, Bill Sanders of Highlands Ranch, CO; a daughter, Sharon (Kevin Nelson) Owens of Kingsport, TN; several brothers and sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Becker and mother, Anah Lee; stepfather, Bob Lee; 2 sisters, Lucy Lee and Nancy Hammons, and a son, Mark Sanders.
