Longtime resident of Magdalena, N.M., Tom Jon Hart passed away on Sept. 8, 2022 in Albuquerque, N.M.

He graduated from Magdalena High School in 1968, attended TVI and earned his welding certification. Tom Jon worked as a cowboy at the Y ranch in Horse Springs, N.M., as a firefighter for the US Forest Service before embarking on his career with NM State Highway Department. He retired with 25 years of service.

Tom Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Sanchez Hart and Jack (Hoot) Hart. He is survived by his cousins: Becky Anzelone, Patrick Castillo, Katharine Prevatte, Nathan Castillo, Terrie Romer, TJ Henderson, Rachel Buford, Elise Rivera, Juan Julian, Danny Julian, Sandy Julian, Barbara Zellers, Denita Keith, Mike Julian, Jacob Wanhala and Mark Wanhala.
