Virginia Sanchez Lujan

1928 – 2021

Virginia Sanchez Lujan, former resident of Lemitar, New Mexico graduated  to Heaven on Monday, September 20, 2021, with her family by her side, she was 93 years old.

Virginia was born on May 20, 1928, in Delta, Colorado and lived in Tucumcari, NM after she married. She moved from Albuquerque to Lemitar with her husband and children in 1962 and remained there until 2016 when she moved to Arbors of Del Rey  in Las Cruces, NM.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard J. Lujan (Dick) and her oldest son, Westley (Ralph) Lujan. She is survived by her children, Juanita Schantz from Woodland Park, CO; Richard Joe Lujan Jr. (Rick) and daughter-in-law, Donna from Lubbock, TX, and by her youngest daughter, Katherine Caldwell of Las Cruces, NM; and 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Virginia was the second child of 17 brothers and sisters and is survived by two remining brother’s and six remaining sisters and many nieces and nephews.

She was a beautiful person, not only on the outside, but most importantly on the inside. She was sunshine on our shoulders.

Graveside services were held on Friday, September 24 in Lemitar, NM where she was laid to rest next to her husband, Richard J. Lujan and their son, Westley Lujan.

We would like to thank Arbors of Del Rey for the care that you gave our mother with dignity and compassion during her stay over the past five years, and to La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice that cared for our mother in her transition home.
