The Socorro Warriors boys soccer team played their first home match in over a year as they shutout the East Mountain Timberwolves 3–0 on March 11 at the City of Socorro Sports Complex. That was their second game of the season as the Warriors defeated Silver 5–1 in a neutral site match.
Against East Mountain, Josh Reyes scored Socorro’s first goal of the match with a shot from outside of the penalty box to the right side of the net. To put the Warriors ahead 2–0, Braden Mounyo’s shot from close range on the left side of the field was netted on the right side.
Hezekiah Oxford scored the only goal of the second half via a penalty shot after Reyes was fouled in the box.
The Warriors went on to defeat St. Michaels 4–1 in Santa Fe on Tuesday.
Socorro will host New Mexico Military Institute and Hot Springs on Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
