Beatrice Chavez (née Padilla), 88, passed away on Friday, May 17, in Socorro, NM. She was born November 1935 in a ranchhouse in Bosquecito (Los Torreones) to Herminio Padilla and Doloritas Romero.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Isaac Chavez Jr., her parents, 8 Vigil siblings, and 6 Padilla siblings.

She is survived by her children, Alvinita Otero (Jesse), Grace Chavez, Isaac Chavez III (Ana), Sara Chavez, Lucinda Whitehorse (Byron), and Samuel Chavez (Sarah). She has 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a dog, and three cats.

Beatrice, or little grandma, was a Jill of all trades: a missionary, a world traveler, a tailor, a rancher, a gardener, and a babysitter.

Her life was full of animals she loved, including ants, bees, and caterpillars.

Beatrice was a curious soul who always made a friend wherever life brought her.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. The world around her will miss her dearly.

Services will be at the Socorro SDA Cemetery in Escondida, on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10 a.m.
