The Village of Magdalena’s annual recycling day was held last Saturday, giving residents a chance to rid themselves of tires and metal refuse that will be recycled. Separate rollouts were provided for the disposal of miscellaneous household items.

At the end of the day, an estimated 40 yards of tires, 40 yards of metal, and 80 yards of miscellaneous household material were tossed into the dumpsters.

“Everybody brought their stuff to the site set up at the transfer station,” Mayor Richard Rumpf said. “Village utility personnel helped, and our newly acquired backhoe was useful in packing the containers.”

He said the project was funded by a state recycling grant. “The household stuff is added to the landfill, and the tires and metal will be bundled and used for berms at the landfill,” Rumpf said.
