More than 400 athletes are expected to participate in the Socorro 7-on-7 football tournament at the Rodeo and Sports Complex today.

“We are expecting several big schools to show up, and it’s going to be a real challenge,” head football coach Damian Ocampo said. “We’re still looking for people to step up and find their role. We’ve got lots of young kids this year.

Traffic around the area is expected to be congested throughout the day.

It’s been a busy last two weeks for Warriors football with a trip out of state and some stops along the way for 7-on-7 and linemen competitions.

Games are expected to get underway at 11 a.m., and admission to the event is free.
