Cody Godinez

1995-2023

Cody Godinez, a vibrant and spirited resident of Stanley, NM, left us all too soon on June 12, 2023, at the age of 27. Born on December 20, 1995, Cody embraced life with an unparalleled passion and thirst for adventure. Cody was a Cowboy through and through and an entrepreneur at heart.

He proudly established his own business just days before his passing and with pride called it Godinez Performance Horses. He poured his heart and soul into his work, excelling in training horses and nurturing his ranching dreams.

Cody’s dedication and commitment to his craft earned him recognition among the best and most respected horse trainers in the country. Beyond his cowboy lifestyle and professional accomplishments, Cody had many interests that brought him joy. Music, dancing, and his passion for the game of pool, set his soul on fire, while his love for his family, friends, and the simple pleasures of life, defined his character.

Cody’s infectious energy and lively personality made him the life of every gathering, and he made it a point to prioritize the people he held dear. Known for his warm and friendly nature, Cody had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He possessed a genuine interest in others, making strangers feel like lifelong friends.

His infectious laughter and genuine smile could light up any room, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He would drive hours, sometimes in the opposite direction, across Texas and New Mexico, ensuring he spent quality time with loved ones, understanding the time is precious and we have a limited time together.

Cody’s dreams revolved around building a life rooted in his cowboy heritage, surrounded by loved ones. He yearned for the day he would have children of his own with the love of his life, passing on the values he held dear and nurturing them to be respectful and kind-hearted individuals.

Cody was preceded in death by his father, Billy Godinez, his beloved grandmothers, Ruth Baca and Fiddie Godinez, and his grandfather, Nash Godinez.

He is survived by his loving mother, Karen Godinez, and his three siblings, Jacob, Desireè, and Harley Godinez. Cody also leaves behind his grandfather, Robert Baca, and his devoted girlfriend, Madison Davis, who supported him in every endeavor.

A Funeral Service was held on July 7, 2023, at the Stanley Cyclone Center, where friends and family gathered to pay their final respects and honor Cody’s spirit. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Beau Marshall, Bud Godinez, Toby Dolan, Basil Davis, Cole Kirksey, Leon Fountain, Estevan Martinez, Ryan Bean, Mitchell Thomson, Mckenzie Cooper, Dillon Booth, Marissa Lucero, Price Marez, Fabian Otero, Aaron Martinez, and Maverick McWilliams.

Although Cody’s time with us was tragically short, he will be forever remembered and his legacy of compassion, kindness, and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind a profound void, but also a legacy that will be talked about for years to come. Cody’s vibrant spirit and genuine warmth will forever remain a guiding light in our lives. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his family and friends find solace in the beautiful memories they shared with him.
