Esther M. Chavez

1935-2021

Esther M. Chavez, age 85, of Magdalena, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 with her loving family at her side.

Esther was a caring stay-at-home mother who had four children; Emma Garcia (Andy), Roger Chavez (Oralia), and Anthony Chavez (Klynn).

Esther was born in Magdalena, New Mexico on September 17, 1935 to Pablo Madril and Clara Ortega Madril. Esther enjoyed spending time with her family. Her favorite things to do were watching sporting events; both on TV and in person. She also enjoyed cooking for her family.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pat Chavez; her son, Larry Chavez; brother, Benny Madril; and sister; Irene Hernandez. She is survived by her children, Emma, Roger, and Anthony; brother, Paul Madril; sisters, Mela Candelaria (Sibby), Alice Saldivar, and Elsie Gutierrez (Ramon). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Sandra, Monica, Veronica, Karly, Keandra, Keshia, and Kyle. Great-grandchildren, Noah, Isaiah, Jacob, Lea, Autumn, Remi, Caleb, Mila, Eric, Kathleen, Kadence, and Ella.  Great-great-grandchildren, Chase and Audrianna.

Esther will be deeply missed by family and friends. It is hard to say goodbye to someone who is loved so dearly.

A rosary for Esther was held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the St. Mary Magdalene Church in Magdalena, New Mexico. A mass was recited with Father John Anasiudu presiding. Interment was at the Magdalena community cemetery following the mass.

Pallbearers were Noah Burleson, Isaiah Burleson, Jacob Burleson, Kyle Davis, Ernest Baca, Ernesto Sandoval, Mathew Parker, Joe Hernandez, and Joe Herrera.
