After a 10-day layoff from competition, Magdalena fell 3-1 against Capitan on Sept. 19 stopping a four-match winning streak for the Steers.

“There’s been a lot going on (football homecoming) with the time off and the distractions.” Steers coach Micheon Shellhorn said. “We’ve just need to roll with the punches and take advantage of the opportunities when we have them. We are trying to focus on the good and find good in everything we do.”

After playing against Mountainair on Tuesday, the Steers have another week off then two matches before the start of District 1-1A play.

The Steers have three home dates coming up starting on Oct. 2 against Mountainair on Oct. 5 against Corona/ Vaughn and on Oct. 6 against Quemado.
