After eight years as Magdalena Schools principal, Leslie Clark decided last month to take on a new challenge as principal of Hot Springs High School in Truth or Consequences.

Clark has been with the school system for 23 years. She started out at Magdalena Schools as an educational assistant, then began teaching science and finally as principal. Although now working in Truth or Consequences, Clark still lives on the family ranch in Magdalena with her husband Clay, who remains on the faculty at the school.

Magdalena Municipal School District Superintendent Glen Haven said the search for a new principal may take a while.

“We will take our time and go through all the qualified applicants,” Haven said. “It may take up until the end of this school year, but it will be the right person.”

The job posting has been made public for a few weeks already, he said.

In the interim, Haven has taken over the role of secondary principal, in addition to his superintendent position.

The school also has posted vacancies for Human Resources Director, as well as Administrative Assistant for the Business Manager and the Human Resources/Federal and State Programs/Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator.
