Women from Socorro County seeking a venue to display their paintings, drawings, and sculptures will find the perfect showcase at New Mexico Tech during March, Women’s History Month. Interested artists can register to display up to two pieces of their artwork during the WomenFest Artist Showcase from March 1 to 31 on Macey Center’s second floor.

Participation in the artists’ showcase is free and is open to all mediums, including textiles, oil paintings, jewelry, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, photography, and pottery. Pieces must be not more than 6 feet in height or 20 lbs. Both 2-D and 3-D works are welcome. Paintings must be framed or have completely painted sides/edges.

Women of all ages from Socorro County or who have a strong connection to Socorro County are encouraged to participate, although those under age 18 must have the written consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Artists must register online at nmt.edu/pas by Wednesday, Feb. 22, and drop off their artwork by Friday, Feb. 24. Artists are asked to complete the Macey Center Exhibitor Agreement and submit an artist bio and photograph by Feb. 24.

The public will have the opportunity to view the artwork throughout the month of March at Macey Center during its operating hours. A special artists’ reception will be held Friday, March 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Macey Center followed by the free Presidential Chamber Music Series concert featuring the String Queens at 7:30 p.m. Appetizer and drink specials will be available.
