Crusita R. Montoya

1938-2021

Crusita R. Montoya, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, passed peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2021, at her home in Socorro.  Crusita was born on May 14, 1938 in Lemitar, NM to Isidro and Elisa (Castillo) Romero Sr.

On November 10, 1957, Crusita married Estanislado (Stanley).  Together they had four children, Annette (Vic) Montoya Nelson; Estanislado (Diana) (Stanley-deceased); Lisa (LaDon) Moten; Juanita (deceased).

She is survived by grandchildren:  Joshua (Stacey) Montoya; Estanislado (Megan) Montoya IV; Juanita (Angel) Mendoza; LaDon Moten Jr.; step-grandchildren:  Kathleen and Jennifer Nelson; Great-grandchildren:  Mercedes, Alize, Joshua Jr., Vicente, Rylyn, Estrella, Kadyn, and Zander Montoya, Noelia Mendoza, Isis and Mariah Nelson, Christopher, and Aiden Romero; great-great-grandchildren:  Aviana and Elijah Montoya.

Siblings:  Isidro Jr. (Cecilia-deceased); Roman (Criza); Gilbert -deceased (Suza-deceased); Ismael–deceased (Della, Diana-deceased); Leandro; Albert (Terry-deceased); Sara (Reynaldo-deceased) Lucero; brother-in-law Rufino; sister-in-law Lorena (Wayne) Vursels; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her loving family was always her pride and joy!  She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Crusita worked 31 years as a cashier for the lunch program at Socorro Consolidated Schools.  She was an active member of San Miguel Catholic church and served in the past as fiesta chairman and majordoma.

A rosary will be recited on Monday, August 2 at 7:00 at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated August 3 at 10:00.

Interment will take place at the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Joshua Montoya, Angel Mendoza, La Don Moten Jr., Joe Saavedra, La Don Moten Sr. and Vic Nelson. Honorary pallbearer is Stan Montoya IV.
