The Lady Warriors’ efforts lifted them to an overall fourth-place finish as a team.

Socorro’s two champions and Lady Warriors Jayden Kayser (wildcard), Chloe Etsitty (7th) and Ally Martinez (4th) will all be making the trip to the NMAA State Wrestling Championships set for Feb. 17-18 at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho.

“It was a tough tournament with excellent wrestling,” Socorro coach Joel Partridge said. “I’m very proud of our effort. It’s no easy task when you wrestle 33 teams from 3A-5A and finish as a top-four team.”

Castillo, in the 107-weight class, won all four of her matches by fall, with the final coming as the Socorro junior topped senior LOLU wrestler Kiyah Padilla at the 3:29 mark.

Gonzalez beat all comers in the 120s with three straight falls and won her title with a 13-1 decision over Albuquerque’s Naiomi Molina.
