The Warriors and Lady Warriors golf teams shot their best scores of the season thanks to a slew of personal bests by Socorro linksters at the Leroy Gooch Invitational at The Links at Sierra Blanca on April 17.

The Warriors tied for first place with Los Lunas after posting a score of 338. Luther Richardson (79), Andrew Handrich (86), Ian Gonzales (89), and Robinson Ford (90) all shot personal best scores.

Richardson’s total earned a second-place individual finish, while Isaiah Silva was 6th with a score of 84. Handrich’s 86 put him in third place.

Ally Martinez shot a season-low 81 for second place in the girls bracket, and the Lady Warriors had five players in the top ten.

Natasha Apodaca was 7th with an 89, and Ariana Crespin was 8th after shooting a 91 (personal best). Tivonne Anaya’s 92 was 9th, and Alex Crespin was 10th with a 94 (personal best).

Socorro heads to Ruidoso on May 1 for the District 3-3A golf tournament with hopes of making the state tournament set for May 8-9 at Canyon Club Four Hill in Albuquerque.
