The following items were taken from reports at the Socorro Police Department

May 10

An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Liles Street for a theft. The reporting party told the officer he had parked his 2008 Chrysler 300 in his yard with the keys still inside the vehicle. He said some friends picked him up, and they left to cruise. When he returned home, he remembered he left his keys in the Chrysler and looked for them. He found his keys missing and the car rummaged through. Also missing from the vehicle was his wallet containing his bank card and cash app card. He said he did not have security cameras but wanted the incident documented. No suspects at this time.

An officer was dispatched to the Comfort Inn about a theft from one of the rooms. The reporting party stated he was out last night at the Capital Bar and had invited women friends of his back to his hotel room. When they arrived at his room, one of the women needed to use the restroom. When she came out, the victim said he also needed to use the bathroom, and while he was in there, he noticed two of his rings, a watch, and a knife missing. He said the woman was gone when he came out of the bathroom. He quickly ran out of the room, located her, and asked her to empty her purse. She did as he asked, but he did not see any of the things that were taken from the bathroom. She left, and the other women remained in the hotel room. Although they had never entered the bathroom, he said he asked them to empty their purses and saw that they didn’t have his things. The officer was able to identify the suspect, and she was charged with larceny.

May 11

An officer was dispatched at 9:48 a.m. to John Brooks Supermart, where a woman was seen trying to stuff steaks into her hoodie. Charges were filed on both her and a man with her.

An officer was dispatched at 10:43 a.m. to Peralta Drive in reference to possible fraud. The reporting party said she had received a letter from Workforce Solutions stating she had applied for unemployment benefits. She said she is employed and has never applied for any assistance whatsoever, and she needed a police report to give to New Mexico Workforce Solutions.

An officer was dispatched to Bubble Machine car wash for someone attempting to break into the quarter exchange box. The video of the incident showed a man wearing a mask trying to take money out of the machine. He also tried to break into another machine with no success. The suspect has not been identified.

An officer was patrolling at 10:56 a.m. and observed a woman on Reservoir Road taking mail not belonging to her. She ran on the officer’s approach but was stopped a short distance away. She had several bags that were searched at Socorro Police Department, and the officer located drugs in the bags. She was later incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center.

An officer was dispatched at 1:21 p.m. to Jess’s Car Wash, where someone tried to break into three machines for cash. The officer was unable to identify him due to poor video quality.

An officer was dispatched at 1:51 p.m. to the Socorro Police Department to take a report from a woman who said she was missing a firearm she had left in her vehicle. The serial number was entered into NCIC as a stolen firearm.

An officer met with a man at 2:08 p.m. at the police station on a battery report. He said a friend told him his roommate had punched him in the face causing his nose to bleed. He wanted a report on the incident to try and get his roommate evicted. The officer advised him he needed to file paperwork with the courts to start the eviction process.

May 12

An officer was dispatched at 10:09 p.m. to Stallion Circle for a report. The victim said his identity had possibly been used. He explained that he had taken a computer in for repair, and during that time, he noticed money was missing from his account. He could not provide the amount of money missing.

May 13

An officer was dispatched at 11:08 a.m. to the 1200 block of El Camino Real for a stolen motorcycle. The victim said the bike was taken during the overnight hours and gave the officer the license plate number. It was entered into NCIC as a stolen vehicle.

May 14

An officer picked up a man on California Street for an outstanding warrant and found drugs hidden in his waistband. He was arrested and incarcerated at SCDC on the warrant and trafficking a controlled substance.

An officer was dispatched at 1:07 p.m. to Tractor Supply on a report of a man shoplifting. The manager pointed out the Jeep the suspect was driving, and while the officer was running the plate, the suspect walked out of the store toward the vehicle. A check with NCIC showed he had a warrant for his arrest out of Socorro Municipal Court and a “hold without bond” warrant from Valencia County Magistrate Court. A search pursuant to arrest revealed a clear baggie containing clear crystal crushed rocks consistent with crystal methamphetamine. The officer continued the search and removed an item the suspect stole from Tractor Supply. The suspect was transported to Socorro General Hospital and then to Socorro County Detention Center. The narcotics were stored in evidence to be sent to the lab for confirmation.

An officer was dispatched at 9:35 p.m. to a residence on Fatima Road for a domestic. The officer met with a woman who said her boyfriend had been drinking and getting aggressive towards her. When she tried to call the police, he pushed her, hurting her ribs, and took her cell phone. The officer called for EMTs to check on her and searched for the suspect. Charges of domestic violence (battery) and interference with communications were filed.

May 15

An officer was dispatched at 9:47 a.m. to the 800 block of School of Mines Road to meet with two city workers. The reporting party said a tree and two bushes were stolen from the sidewalk area. The tree was valued at $350, and the two bushes at $202 each.

An officer was dispatched to Socorro High School for a student who was saying she wanted to cause self-harm. The officer made contact with the student, who stated she was wanting to cut herself and commit suicide. She said a boy in her class had poked her in the lower back with a pencil.  The officer transported her for an evaluation at Socorro General Hospital, where a family member met them. The officer returned to the school to meet with the principal and watched a video of the incident, which showed the victim and a boy playing basketball and sitting next to each other. At no point did it appear the boy do anything to the victim. The officer spoke to a teacher’s aide supervising the victim, who stated she had not witnessed anything like that occurring and had not left the victim unsupervised.

An officer met with an individual at 12:29 p.m. at the police station who wanted to file a fraud report. The victim stated he had received a letter in the mail from New Mexico Workforce Solutions about applying for unemployment benefits and asking for proof of identification. He said he had not applied for benefits but had reached out to Workforce Solutions to let them know someone was using his name. He was told they would close out the account and advised him to file a report. The victim said he didn’t have any idea who was trying to file for unemployment benefits with his name.

An officer made contact with a man at 4:05 p.m. at the police station who wanted to report his vehicle was broken into the night before. He said someone had stolen the vehicle’s title from his glove box. He stated he went to the MVD and purchased a new title which cost him $200. When asked if there was any damage to his vehicle, he said the door was left unlocked. No suspects were mentioned.

An officer was dispatched at 6 p.m. to the 400 block of Second Street for two trespassers on the property. Upon arrival, the officer noticed an individual pointing at two women walking down the street. They were stopped and asked what they were doing. They stated they were walking on the ditch and jumped over a fence to cut across to the next road. A check with NCIC showed one of the women had a warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and asked if she had anything on her person, and she handed over a folded piece of foil, a metal straw and a lighter. In the foil was a Fentanyl pill. The other woman was in possession of two Fentanyl pills. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and trespassing, and incarcerated in the Socorro County Detention Center.

May 16

An officer pulled a driver over for speeding on Highway 60 at 10:31 a.m. Her information was run through NCIC and came back with a warrant out of Valencia County Magistrate for probation violation. She was charged with speeding and having no driver’s license and booked into Socorro County Detention Center on the warrant.

An officer was dispatched at 12:54 p.m. to the Plaza to take a report on a broken window. The reporting party estimated the cost of replacing the window at $400. The reporting party advised he believes the damage was caused sometime overnight. No witnesses nor suspects were mentioned, and there was no footage of the accident.

May 17

An officer was dispatched at 7:49 a.m. to the Plaza in reference to an assault. The reporting party said he was walking to open his business when he noticed the parking lot was taped off and trucks were blocking the parking area for his customers. He stated he walked up to the individuals blocking the parking lot and instructed them he was needing them to move their vehicles and unblock the parking lot to have room for his customers to park. He said one of the workers became upset and started arguing and pushed him multiple times. He said he wanted to press charges on the other man. A witness stated she observed the worker pushing him numerous times. The officer spoke with the worker, who stated the reporting party walked up to him in an aggressive manner, telling him he needed to move all his stuff, calling him names, and pushing his finger into his chest. That’s when he pushed him back, telling him to get away and get out of his face. The worker had witnesses who confirmed his version of the incident. A camera appeared to catch some of the altercation, but the beginning of the incident did not occur on camera. The parties were informed they were both being charged with battery, as they both wanted to press charges on each other.

An officer was called at 11:40 p.m. to a residence in the 1200 block of Santa Fe Lane in reference to a break-in. On arriving, the officer noticed a vehicle leaving the area and met with the reporting person, who stated the vehicle leaving was the suspect. A Socorro County deputy located the suspect vehicle and detained the driver. The reporting person said the suspect kicked in the front door and entered the residence, demanding to see a woman that did not live there. He said he pushed the woman out of the door, and she fell down the stairs and then left the property. The officer separately met with the suspect, who said she was just attempting to go to a friend’s house, and the GPS took her to the reporting person’s residence. She said she knocked on the door, and nobody answered. She said when she knocked again, the door fell over into the residence.
